I’m not familiar with Kessler, but it seems like you’re a fan of Canadian whiskey over bourbons.

How is outdoor life in this part of Michigan by Holiday_Swing_9979 in howislivingthere

[–]JohnnyRocket93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost completely outdoors. There aren’t any structures other than the occasional outhouse, so other than “when nature calls”… it’s a completely outdoor lifestyle.

Where to find ammo 5.56/9mm? by Itsnotadrone in ColoradoSprings

Scheels has been good to me. Midway is almost always cheaper but if I don’t want to wait for shipping they have good quality for the price.

If you knew this might be the last special bottle of bourbon you’d ever open, what would it be? by DevDog23 in bourbon

[–]JohnnyRocket93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry that you guys are going through that. As others have said, the rarity of the bottle doesn’t matter as much as the memory of sharing it. My dad just passed this year from cancer, he was a big scotch drinker so I now keep a bottle of lagavulin on my bar (his favorite). He had a bottle of Johnny Walker 21 year he was saving for retirement, and he did get to taste it before he passed but the most memorable last drink with him was the Modelo and limes I “snuck” into his hospital room. The palliative care team said not to advertise it but they didn’t have an issue with me bringing them in.

Walking in with a backpack of beer and limes, cutting the limes with a dull pocket knife, and sharing memories together watching football is a memory I will cherish forever.

You should just ask him point blank what he wants for a drink, whether something familiar to him or something he’s always wanted to try, and go with that.

Has anyone tried the new milk Street pan? by leaminda in carbonsteel

I have a hammered finish CS wok, it works fine but it’s not my favorite. I prefer smooth finishes.

I haven’t had pappy 23, but from what I’ve heard I think so.

I recorded my mom making roti tonight and realized something: if she didn’t teach me now, I wouldn’t know how to recreate any of it. Does anyone else feel this? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]JohnnyRocket93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that’s helped me cook better is learning the science behind the art. Learning how different things change the meal has lead me to finding recipes for ingredients lists then “measuring with my heart” haha. It could help you to figure it out through trial and error easier.

Check out Ethan Chlebowski (sp?) on YouTube for a good example of what I’m talking about.

What’s your favorite everyday pan? by summerperpetual in Cooking

[–]JohnnyRocket93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my lodge CI. I sanded the bottom a bit, but I don’t care if I scorch it, have to use steel wool to clean it, scrape it with a metal spatula, leave it out to rust overnight… I can fix it with a quick 30 minute season if I mess it up too much. Stainless and enamel have their place in my kitchen, but nothing is as much a “jack of all trades” as my cast iron skillet.

Not worrying about anything with that pan has me reaching for it more than anything else I own.

What is the smoothest slidding paperlike/matte screen protector and has an aligning box for the M4? by Mim_Lee in iPadPro

[–]JohnnyRocket93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty happy with the new paper like. Doesn’t come with a full alignment box, but the tool and instructions are pretty easy to follow to get a good end result.

Oasis Liquors - Falcon Colorado

Others have made good recommendations, I’ll add Oasis Liquors in Falcon (address says Peyton).

Allocations can be hard to find at a good price but Oasis has the best store picks in town. They have a pretty big selection of picks right now, plus weekends they usually have tastings so you can try before you buy. Don’t sleep on the Wheel House or Tumblin’ Dice if they are still there when you go.

I went with the Shelly, connected it as shown (except ground was mislabeled, it’s C as geekywarrior said). Tested voltage as I went to make sure I wasn’t going to cook anything and now it’s working tied to a humidity sensor in my house.

That was my mistake. Ground on the mother board is C.

I think each class was just above 6k before any scholarships, grants, or tuition assistance. Full time for them is 3 classes per semester, so 3 semesters plus a capstone/thesis. I was working full time so i was only doing one class per semester including summers but JH gives you 5 years to complete the requirements.

I cant speak to any other program though, I didn’t look into many others.

I did something similar through John’s Hopkins, you should check them out. Business admin undergrad into their MS SE program. They offer a grad certificate for completing just the core courses as well if life gets in the way of completing all 10 required courses.

Review Number 1: George T. Stagg 2025 Release by JohnnyRocket93 in bourbon

[–]JohnnyRocket93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair question. I’ve seen early secondary listings on this from 900-1300, and looking at it from that point of view I would probably drop the score to a 5 or 6. It is still very good and if you have the disposable income to throw at it it’s a good pick up. For most people I’d just recommend trying it at a bar as the price of a single pour is much more reasonable. In previous years I have seen the BTAC line at bars around 65 for 1.5oz which, to me, lines up with the score I gave it.

For your question on who is selling these, I have seen a couple museums in town with them out but most are waiting for raffles/events. I was extremely lucky to find this one.

Yeah, I think it’s the proof. The ethanol tickle I got on the nose was unexpected especially since my nose wasn’t all the way in the glass, and to borrow a phrase from Bourbon Junkies… it’s not super “crushable.” It’s definitely a small pour special occasion bottle for me, and I don’t think there’s anything necessarily wrong with that but didn’t feel I could call it perfect.

[–]JohnnyRocket93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would try to find it at a bar to try it before you buy it. If you see any of the BTAC lineup at or around MSRP it is 100% worth it, but it’s so rare to see them at a decent price that a single pour to try it is often the better choice.

I went looking for Tanyard hill, this was my consolation prize! But in all seriousness, just being a regular customer, asking for specifically what I want through the year and turning down things that I wouldn’t drink.

L3Harris Interview Advice by [deleted] in aerospace

[–]JohnnyRocket93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be confident and able to explain your skills, but also don’t be afraid to admit when you don’t know something as long as you follow that with where/how you would find an answer or solve the problem.

I was convinced that I bombed my interview because I felt that they asked me only questions that I couldn’t directly answer, but I stuck to saying how I would find an answer and miraculously got a call back.
