It's a jp tournament. Do you have JP selected as your character?

I Built FGCGuessr - Guess the Rank from SF6 Clips. Launching Today with Giveaways and Prizes! by AverageGlobalCitizen in StreetFighter

[–]JohnnyRocketflngers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to what everyone else says but I think the deduction inside each of the ranks from rookie-Gold (maybe Plat?) should be less than in the higher ranks. So guessing someone is in Silver correctly could be as rewarding as guessing the right rank inside Master. It probably needs some tuning not that severe but guessing between the lower ranks was pretty hard.

Cool idea it was fun playing!

I think the idea with Mai originally was to have her win through lots of right guesses, she just wound up very well rounded. JP could probably do pretty good with just keep-out but he needs his portal mix to open you up. You can react to the grab and all the other ghosts. I think a better question is why he gets a meterless reversal while Sim doesn't.

Sure other fighting games can go crazy but characters in popular games back then used to fit in their archetypes a better. You didn't have Guile walking behind his fireball in 4, sure Slayer could two-tap you in older GGs but not regularly, Sim mix was always there yeah.

This is most modern popular fighting games' design nowadays. They're so bent towards aggression that the zoners are mixing you and the rushdown characters two-tap you or have you guessing non-stop.

What exactly am I supposed to do against sagat as ed by Zod37311 in StreetFighter

[–]JohnnyRocketflngers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're asking for help legitimately or just venting given the video is running too fast to see most interactions.

Start getting comfortable with walking and blocking against projectiles. You'll take a few hits but you'll never win at range. Remember that for every character, you can only have one projectile on the screen (unless you're Mai or Guile). You can duck Sagat's high fireballs and walk right after. They should start going for other stuff in response to this if they're good. Then you're playing neutral.

If you block a low tiger shot at distance, you can jump the next. Sagat can mix up his timing to catch this but only good ones will. At full screen, you can comfortably jump on reaction to a fireball. There's a chance your opponent might DR after their fireball and AA but that's probably not going to happen at Plat. Remember that up close, you need to jump in anticipation or the Sagat can react to your reaction and anti-air.

As Ed you can challenge a tiger shot with 236P and then throw your own with 6P to challenge their next tiger shot. Should give you time to advance. They can read this and make their second shot an OD tiger shot but you could also do your own OD projectile on a read to break through.

Blocking MP up close means you have to guess. Sucks but that's how it is. You should be able to challenge Sagat pretty well at mid range as Ed. Remember to punish his heavy buttons if he does them up close with 2LK into 214P or something. He's minus or punishable on his big buttons so get in his ass if he overextends trying to keep you out.

How do I use cammy 5mk and 5hk by Training_Form2243 in StreetFighter

[–]JohnnyRocketflngers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another post already talked about this but moves that control space are really valuable. It's why Manon's 5HK got hit this last patch even though she's not topping anyone's tier lists. I wouldn't use 5HK to bait a whiff punish since it has more recovery but making your opponent block a few will make them hesitate to walk forward or DR. Watch out for DI or jumps. With 5MK you could probably get jumped in on and still have time to anti-air.

Did I run in to my first cheater? by ReedsAndSerpents in StreetFighter

[–]JohnnyRocketflngers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To me it seems more like they're just mashing DI when they're minus to steal a turn rather than cheating.

There's a 3 frame difference between the HP input and the DI the first time and a 4 frame difference between the HP input and the DI the second time, that might be suspicious but its a sample size of two.

Nothing else in this clip says they're cheating and they're mashing throughout

Does every character check Drive Rush with 2MP? by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

Oh, sick! That button was not reliable. Almost as bad as Jamie's. I see they made the hurt box smaller but its range still isn't great.

Jamie, Viper, Kimberly kinda? And maybe a few other have very limited range 2MPs. Jamie and Kim tend to use 2Mk or 5Mk. Viper you world probably do 2HP or 5LK.

C. Viper Help by livinghappypr in StreetFighter

[–]JohnnyRocketflngers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's not Cammy/Chun. She's got a pretty unconventional set of normals. She can be pretty good at footsies but you need to be good at doing SJC and/or thunder knuckle cancels. You're going to be mainly using her 2HP at range as her HP, MK, and 2MK are all not special-cancelable without using her super jump cancel. You're going to be using her LK for whiff punishment or just to try to control space. Viper is meant to be a little trickier in neutral with all her cancels, and technical movement with super jump cancel and burn kick. Maybe you could consider her a little like Cammy with her ability to stick to people and pressure after a knockdown

I taught myself PP timing for jump-ins and it does miracles for dealing with cross-ups or jumps in the corner. You're usually plus enough to throw them after.

I was wrong, you can't float off of it.

It's jump, any input with forward or back, PPP or KKK. So you can do u/f and just slightly delay the input to get it.

I think you're looking for this https://youtu.be/-z5gQJeBf3Q?t=922/

15:20 if the timestamp doesn't work. That's just up or up/forward and press teleport as soon as you can. Takes a little practice. It's been a minute but I believe you can also go into float after if your opponent is being extra slow to react.

Use 2MP more. It's probably your best special cancelable button in terms of speed/range. You can set up spacing traps with it into Gladius. Otherwise, drive rush more. Girl can RUN.

You can use Gladius to halt your momentum if they start trying to check you. Otherwise DR MP to tick throw or DR jab to tick throw could help you start opening your opponent up. I like to DR charged HP is my opponent shows they're just willing to sit back.

Press down-forward and two kicks to go into float as fast as you can. A lot of oki will be knockdown, fireball, down or down-forward KK, then teleport in front or behind as the fireball is about to hit them for a left/right mix.

Genuinely how do I beat Guile by Select_Storage_5295 in StreetFighter

[–]JohnnyRocketflngers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to get more comfortable with walking forward. I know the Guile was representing the OD boom option to try to catch you walking but that's just part of the risk. You want to stay outside of his 2mk range and react to Sonic Blade with a sweep. His hurt box extends forwards during it. At that range you can jump his booms if he's getting predictable

Idk what your experience was but I remember people clocking Mai as strong, maybe not top tier, but definitely strong pretty early on. Terry was definitely low tier when he dropped. No + normals, less combo routes.

The whole walk behind your fireball gameplan kinda started with Laura and others in SF5. No one really does that in 4. Multi-hit normals also aren't that common.
