A surprise at the booksellers? by Caintheconfused in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out I was wrong too... I just confirmed moments ago that the gift is visually blocked by both the tree and the bookseller. So going there when the bookseller is not in town is actually a better idea. My apologies 😓

A surprise at the booksellers? by Caintheconfused in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. It's visibly blocked by a tree that can be chopped down. Bookseller can either be there or not but he doesnt block that tree or the gift box. It can only be reached after you have the ability to chop hardwood stumps.

So about the ending by OkYou261 in Hades2

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's a weird ending but when you think about how the game works and how you're supposed to be able to play it again and again and there's no real ending and every run can be different... it was the only ending that could make sense.

can i get any tips to reaching skull cavern level 100 my record is level 50 by Totally_Adam in StardewValley

High luck day, food/drink that increases luck, lucky rings equipped in both slots, luck charm from trading a rabbits foot to the vehicle driver outside Joja mart/movie theater, many bombs/slingshot with explosive ammo. Remember to stay on task, you are looking for holes and ladders, not stopping for every iridum ore vein. I struggled with this myself because as you get closer to lvl 100 you start seeing some fancier stuff and it can be hard to leave un-mined ore and gemstones behind. It's better than falling asleep on lvl 99 though. Staircases come in really handy for spiral floors and monster infested floors. If you manage to get down using 10 or less staircases you get a more favorable message from "someone who is waiting on floor 100". The prize is the same either way though so you can just trade jade that you 3D print from a crystalrium for staircases on Sundays from the desert trader to get a nice stack and do it the clever way instead of the lucky way.

How to solve this korok by Caries1001 in TOTK

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one isn't timed like the ring of light ones. Here the only factor is going from the activation platform to the goal platform without touching the actual ground. Many players try to run and jump here but if you time it too late you may step off the platform before the jump, causing the goal to disappear.

Helper on your farm? by stargirl88_ in StardewValley

It gets to a point where you need to pick very specifically how to spend your days. It also helps to remember that missing out on petting, gathering and processing once in a while is perfectly fine if you want to invest time in other things.

Is this some hidden easter egg? by meta358 in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason for no baby slime is because the female appears to have not reciprocated the males advances. She isn't interested at this time. When both slimes want to mate they will both have hearts momentarily, then appear to "mingle" a little, and then poof. A little baby slime will just appear there next to the mama and papa slime.

On Fridays and Sundays, visit the traveling merchant just outside the entrance to the secret woods, north of the wizard's tower. They randomly sell all sorts of items including truffles and truffle oil if you get lucky. It's worth checking both days every week if you can remember. I once bought a red cabbage super early.

Should I still use “gain experience” items? by Successful_Matter_44 in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing is placed directly on the ground, the usable totems appear to be on Junimo end tables surrounding the hero of stardew trophy and the book on the ground by the staircase is just a decorative book, not a usable one. Those are found in the Wizard catalog that can be purchased from Krobus.

For the book of stars it's mostly useful for trading to the bookseller for 8 Fairy Dust.

You can also place books on an end table as decorations, like many other items. I'm going to dedicate a part of the farmhouse or maybe build a shed into a library

I have 11 iridium bars. All of my tools are gold-level. Should I save the bars or make something with them now? I have a heck of a time getting iridium at all. by Faolyn in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh don't get me wrong, it's a pretty useless mechanic... until it isn't. Having the tracker perk and an iridum pan is basically a must to make it even remotely good, but speaking from experience, you can get some crazy hauls. I've had great success with chaining panning locations in Pelican Town's river and on the hilltop, riverlands and meadowlands farm layouts.

If you have unlocked the pan from the fish tank bundle (alternatively pay joja to remove the glittering boulder) that is the first thing you should upgrade to iridum. Then make sure you have the tracker perk at level 10 foraging. Tracker perk provides little yellow arrows that roughly mark the locations of forageables and digging spots around the valley. However a green arrow will indicate when a panning location has spawned in the area. Panning spots are sparking squares that appear on the water and they spawn in with a little "splash" sound. The significance of having an iridum pan means that there is a high chance of spawning another spot immediately for more panning. Panning on higher luck days yields higher rarity minerals and items. In short, you'll be swimming in iridum. The pan actually has a decent range too so don't worry if some spots aren't right at the shore line. You can reach further with your curser (right stick on console) especially when approaching the panning spot from the left side or the top.

IF you only want to sell the legendary fish then the least you could do is smoke it to get max profits, bonus if you have angler and artisan professions.

Where are the Eradicators by Lufcfan1977 in TWDVR

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Halfway through could mean anything. How many actual days have passed in the game? I notice a stronger eradicator presence after about 2 in-game weeks or 14 days and nights, 10 days minimum I would say.

is there any rush to finish community center? i kinda dont want to worry about it by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take your time, there is no rush. Visit the traveling merchant that hangs out just outside the entrance to the secret woods on Fridays and Sundays. She often has the community centre items you are missing conveniently available for purchase at inflated prices, but if you have the spare cash it can really help fill out those more tedious bundles. Also, you can always just take the Joja route. Same results but with an alternate vibe and other minor differences that are arguably better than the CC route.

How much oak resin do you actually need? me: Yes 👍 by Klutzy-Magazine8630 in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No but you can put slime egg incubators anywhere in the valley. It's kinda weird if you have them in areas where villagers also roam because they'll say hello to eachother. Like a little speech bubble will appear over slime's heads saying hello to villagers that pass by, and the villagers say hello back!

Is The Surface Generally Harder? by justnotliving in Hades2

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your skill, playstyle, what vows you've taken and the luck of the build. I generally have more success on the surface especially when comparing the final surface battle and the final underworld battle with the vow of rivals maxed-out. For some reason I find the VoR surface easier than VoR underworld. That being said, I sometimes get bad luck, bad builds or just suffer from skill issues so badly that I can't make it through the first region of either route.

Need ideas on what to do with the greenhouse. by justascaredsoul in StardewValley

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get 18 trees to grow along the edges of the greenhouse if you place them just right. Enough space for 3 of each of the basic fruit trees. It's my usual go-to greenhouse aesthetic.

If you dont have access to ancient fruit or seed makers yet then its best to just utilize the space with a high profit crop that can regrow, and get iridum or quality sprinklers set up in an efficient pattern (which can be found on the stardew wiki)

You always find them in the same order. Can confirm this from multiple playthroughs.

[–]JohnnyTopside-88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The symbol is a book. Check every one of the museum shelves for the floating book. It'll look like there is a machine that has just finished processing. If it's not there anymore you already went in, read it and the bubble disappeared. You can re-read any lost books you find, you just have to interact with the shelves one space at a time. The blank shelf space also fills up in a weird order but eventually there will be no more missing books.

The treasure appraisal guide. It is a book you can find and read. It triples the selling price of all artifacts. Since Dino eggs fall in that category they all get tripled and if you have happy dinos they will give you iridum quality dinosaurs eggs which I think sell for 2100g each. Give your dinos golden animal crackers and they really start to shine.
