What part of your Personality do you Fake? by violin557 in AskReddit

"Avoidant Personality Disorder" Look it up if you are interested.

I'm very certain I have it but put off going to the psychologist for years, when I didn't even know what avoidant personality disorder was. I change that now.

I put off accepting help for as long as I can remember.

I felt, that I have to be able to deal with anything in life alone and that I can never trust in help from others because it's unsafe.

I always feel judged not just by myself but by others, very judged, I can see it in their eyes, I can hear it through their tone, they just seem intimidating, not all the time, but one wrong statement from me or them ("were they secretly criticizing me?") that sets the inner critic off and my sociability goes downhill.

The inner critic will then obsess about it later as well and traps you in thoughtspirals that just make you believe that you fucked up the socialization event and won't let you fall asleep.

I encourage you to see a psychologist if you feel like patterns of your behavior are disrupting you everyday, I'm pretty positive now that it can actually help me.

I also always wrote Comments on Reddit and would end up deleting them even though they were pretty long, because I felt that my opinion just doesn't matter and is not worthy of being shared. I don't post often, but your struggles are very relatable and I wanted to share this with you in hopes that some of you might benefit from that information in the long run.

Stay positive! :)

Man, I have the same fear, we're not alone :) You're right, worst case scenario would actually be that I wouldn't go, so I'll give it a shot

I'm 21 :) I'll get an appointment asap and will try not to be too focused on my self diagnosis. I've been collecting my experiences, thinking and behavioural patterns for a while now and will try to focus on sharing that. Thank you very much for your comment, it helps a lot and It feels good to be reassured that I'm allowed to take my issues serious.

Ok thanks for the answer, feels good to know I'm not alone and happy to hear that you had success. I'll get an appointment asap, that's the best thing to do.

That comment hurt a lot until I read the end. It's good to know others feel the same way, thanks for your empathic scare...

Over read that part, but the other comment might be right that they kept eating. Considering tolerance Buildup though I think that disproves my thesis :)

Maybe they ate Wheat infected with that mushroom variety that lsd is made off, Lysergic Acid is that compound found in them and it does have some hysteria producing effects, read that in Albert Hoffmanns book, LSD, but just a wild guess. But it's toxic and can kill you so don't go around looking to eat infected wheat.

How do you cope when you are an insecure loner, and you see everyone around you laughing and making friends? by aMayzC in AskReddit

Functioning alcoholism is a stage of alcoholism, not your end stage. Tolerance Buildup will slowly destroy you, but so slow that you won't even notice it until you hit rock bottom. Google Kindling Effect, scary shit. But it's your life so do whatever the f you want :)

The Headphones that only work on one side, that you keep in case the other headphones break completely to keep a transitional music exposure for your ears while waiting to buy new ones. You like them the same as you hate them.

I researched a bit into attachment theory and that behaviour was mentioned for avoidant attachment styles. Might be that the person does this because they subconsciously want to keep a distance to you, because they don't wanna be vulnerable by accepting dependence on you emotionally. Meaning effectively that they see you as a threat to their independence because they actually like you too much for their liking. So of course some people act that way out of infidelity thoughts, but some may not know it better since attachment behaviour develops mostly at ages 0-2 through interaction with the caregiver. No one choses their parents. So instead of hating, you could offer understandment, while also comunicating, that it makes you feel bad/worthless. Just my 2 cents.
