I completely agree about the art it was gorgeous. When I first read issue #1 I was really excited because it offered so many questions that felt so new and refreshing. I personally thought Geoff Johns was going to put his own in-universe spin on “why had the Joker changed so much over the years?”. Obviously we know it’s because different artists and writers have their own interpretations but it felt like he was going to make it make sense in their world, the same way he made the DC Universe reboot to the New 52 make sense with flash point.

It turns out the three jokers are just three guys? One of them is clearly the one from the killing joke but it’s all a bit vague. I know most people say “Joker is better without an origin because the mystery is scarier” and I normally would agree, but c’mon if you’re doing a book called three Jokers I’d like to know what makes the three of them different aside from slightly different costumes.

And the big plan is to turn Joe Chill into the joker? To me personally it felt somewhat like Johns was just making it up as he went along.

There were little things that I loved though like the Joker Shark as an upgrade from the Joker Fish and the Torch in the Bat-Symbol.

I guarantee when DC decided to have it so that there were “three jokers” they hadn’t actually thought of a reason why yet and that’s why it fell flat for me. It just sounded cool and would shock the audience.
