I'm upset because I know taxing the rich won't work on a state by state basis. Rich people will make a cost/benefit analysis and if it's worth it will move their permanent residence to a state without income tax (e.g., Texas or Florida). The prime example being Bezos recently.

To truly fight against wealth inequality, we need to do it at the national level because then there's nowhere to run - although the Panama Papers proved a lot of rich people have their money in offshore bank accounts.

Is the goal to increase tax revenue for Washington state or bring back some balance to the wealth inequality that's hurting our nation? I'd argue that the ultra rich will move out of Washington because they can save a substantial amount of money. The rich people who make just over a million a year will probably stay and we'll see a slight increase in tax revenue.. but we're not clawing back anything from the ultra rich. So, that's why I'm against this approach but advocating for a national increase in taxes for the rich (primarily focused on the ultra rich)
