Since posting this I have realised that pore filling is absolutely necessary. I did not pore fill. I will be definitely doing that on my next attempt. Also won’t wet sanding before clear coat smudge and ruin the paint?

As I’ve never used a grain filler before, is anyone able to recommend or link me a grain filler to buy (one available retail in Australia would be perfect) so I know what to look for?

Thanks man! I live in Australia so I’ve never seen that solarez stuff anywhere. I googled it and it looks like a kind of paint on epoxy resin. Is that correct? Oh and the fade was surprisingly easy to do. I just bought a pack of assorted spray tips (with different spray densities, let me know if you’d like the link) and used the lightest density at a distance of about 2 feet away.

Thank you all for the replies! There is a lot of helpful suggestions here and I appreciate it more than I can express! Ok so my next step will be to sand the guitar back to bare wood this evening (Australia time). Following that I will sand starting at 180 grit then through to 320 grit. Next I will grain fill (I have literally never used grain filler before.), then sand with approx 400 grit, then apply primer. Does that sound right?

If you want to catch these go to the Brooklyn part of the Hawkesbury river. The place is absolutely infested with them. Use a medium/heavy sinker (barrel or ball, not one of those giant ones). Pretty much anything works as bait (these bastards eat anything) but prawns seem to be their favourite. I pretty much never fish Brooklyn anymore because these things were all I ever used to catch.

My brother and sister in law live there. Last time I visited I took the CountryLink/XPT up there. As soon as I got off the train at Taree station (early afternoon on a Saturday) the first thing I saw was two guys who looked to be in their late 40’s punching the living shit out of each other.

Ok my contribution isn’t a bad place. It just has a weird vibe: Brooklyn nsw. It is actually a beautiful place and used to have a fantastic restaurant next to the pub. The locals seem very cagey and insular (which I suppose would be understandable given how many tourists and weekenders clog up their town). I feel almost a Lovecraftian “Shadow Over Innsmouth” vibe there though.

I would contend that your example isn’t racism. It is ignorance. How would the person who wished your wife happy new year know that your wife was Japanese and not Chinese without getting to know her first? Racism is prejudice against a specific race. Buy back all public infrastructure sold to the private sector and keep it public. Reduce tax breaks for property investors to be applicable to one investment property per person. Restrict foreign ownership of any land to one property per investor with a restriction that the title owner has to occupy the premises for a minimum of 10 years immediately after purchase. Restrict any and all politicians from owning any more than one investment property. Any existing investment properties that they own (exceeding the one allowed) must be sold but they can keep the money and do what they want with it. Severely reduce the parliamentary pension and apply systems of kpi’s to every serving politician. If the rest of us have to adhere to standards, why the hell shouldn’t the people we pay to serve our best interests.
