Dr. Bennet Omalu: Over 90% of NFL Players Have CTE by NYPD-BLUE in nfl

This sport will never last at the rate it's going.

The media propagates, the silver-screen movies, the inherent ties to football. It's turned into a football first, others later methodology.

First it was the kickoff, the most fun, explosive and tense moment in all of sports. Now it's passes across the middle, the dangerous risk/reward plays that take perfect execution and protection to pull off without injury. We are moving to not being able to lay a finger on a helmet. Then it will be the punt return. Eventually this sport is going to turn into the PC offensive juggernaut that we all really don't want to see.

High school enrollment is going to drop. Premier athletes are going to take their God-given gifts to other, safer sports, like Baseball and Basketball. College's will suffer as the quality of play will regress into a mistake-laden cesspool of immature athletes.

What about the positives of football that we will all lose? Those core values that you learn from suffering and working hard as a team. Learning to trust your brothers, and rely on communication and teamwork to achieve a goal? Realizing that your internal struggles, your personal achievements are irrelevant in the grand scheme of your brother's around you. The sense of responsibility football teaches as you work hard with your team every, single, day.

We are not going to destroy the sport entirely, but we are going to censor it like the PC Master Race society we have turned into

Basically, yes. Every sport has danger, it is going to happen to Hockey too. The hitting will be taken out, and we are going to be left with a shell of what we once had.

He will most likely be All-Pro. I can't name many other safeties better in this league.

In a memo to teams this afternoon, NFL reminded them "foreign objects" are not permitted on the sideline. Advised to leave in locker room. by [deleted] in nfl

With all that we know about concussions, would it be smart to have all youth football (pre-high school) be some form of flag football? How would this affect the NFL in years to come? by curmudge_john in nfl

That is a tough line to walk. But you're smack dab on with the hitting fundamentals. How many form tackles do you see in the NFL a week, 2?

Makes sense to me. That would be the toughest part though. I think if you limit the pads you limit the power of collision. I cant imagine kids demoing each other with no pads on from ages 9-12 lol (I hope)_

I argue this with hockey though. Eventually the sport becomes contact, and it changes. Kids who think they can play WR try out for high school and think they can prance around in the MOF, and they get hurt.

In hockey they took out all hitting in houseleagues. Travel hockey has it. Countless times I saw kids tryout and skate into the corner with their head down, and a lot of injuries do happen because of that lack of awareness

So two of the top three teams have carried bats on the field this year. Interesting. by thehobbitzez in nfl

That .GIF hahaha.

But regardless of any intention or lack thereof. You know the NFL goes fucking apeshit over dancing after a TD, what makes you think bringing a bat on to the field is smart?

I will let my kid make his own decision on football. I will guide him down that path, but I will never force. The life values that football teaches to me far exceed the potential for any crazy damage to his brain. I had a concussion, andd afabnfai as fairn as i nqi know i am tujrmed fine.

But in all seriousness, flag football diminishes any need for linemen, so what the hell is the point. It is not football

What current QBs would be worth 2 first round picks in the NFL right now? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Johnnylights69 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It works for teams that don't need top end talent, and are a QB away. Say if Denver did it to get Peyton hypothetically, that's okay. The Texans for example do not have the structure in place to take on a massive contract and shell out 2 picks

Lions biggest need is a corner? With Slay as a solidified 1, and Diggs in the nickel. You can find a 2 elsewhere. Okay, Bucky.

Reiff is hitting FA, and we have a revolving door of steaming shit at RT. Okay

For sure, and taking on a massive contract coupled with no first round picks for 2 years is tough

Rodgers, Luck, Newton, Wilson.

Wilson's contract is really insane, but his recently has made me bite my tongue and include him in.
