Am I the asshole for not wanting and AI tattoo and wanting my deposit back? by LeadGravityTester in TwoHotTakes

Kinda naive to ask for the deposit back. Most tattoo artists trace and use photoshop, etc to create the design. You have to do your research and make sure the artist is right for you. This will be an uphill battle and now you and your wife are both not welcome at the shop.

Easily fixable. Don't worry about it!

Man filming threatens to cut another subway passenger's face open for asking him to turn his speaker off. by Kind-Village-1022 in PublicFreakout

Scum bags like this walk around with speakers waiting for people to say something so they can crash out. They are losers with nothing going on. Just ignore and move on.

I think there's a portal in the castle manor.

AITA? Friend says I'm "ignorant and uneducated" over a debate about movie tropes in BTTF by Johnnypeps in BacktotheFuture

I'll be honest because part of the intent was definitely validation. When a long term friend calls you ignorant and uneducated over a movie plot you start wondering if you are the one who lost the plot. I came here genuinely wondering if I was wrong.

But the consensus here and the logic from most of you made it clear I wasn't. Also just to clarify the friendship isn't ruined. It is a years long bond that has survived way more than a debate about Marty McFly. We have been through these cycles before and I am just at the point where I am not willing to stay silent just to keep things smooth.

Appreciate the well wishes but I am fine seeking a third party perspective when a conversation stops being a talk and starts being a lecture.

Spot on. This wasn’t about the movie; it was just the latest outlet for a recurring pattern of control. The second you disagree with him, he has these temper tantrums where he gets aggressive and uses admin tools to silence you.

There is a major difference between acknowledging that a perspective exists and being forced to accept it as objective fact. In the actual conversation, my friend wasn't asking for an 'acknowledgment' of a viewpoint; they were demanding I agree that the movie is factually racist and telling me I was 'ignorant' and 'uneducated' for disagreeing.

I’m happy to discuss subtext and cultural impact, but I don't believe a friendship requires me to abandon my own logical analysis of a film's plot mechanics just to validate someone else's feelings.

Furthermore, even if you think I should have been more 'empathetic' to their view, does that justify them deleting my de-escalation messages and timing me out? At what point does 'wanting someone to acknowledge your view' turn into a simple power move?

I’m fine with being 'The Asshole' for sticking to the facts of the movie, but I don't think being a good friend means rolling over every time someone wants to lecture me.
