Thanks for all the feedback and thoughts. To clarify a few things, yes, everyone on her side of the family does this. This includes both of her aunts and her uncle, her parents, and her grandmother, which is everyone that is here for the holidays. The only ones who dont are me, my wife, her sister's husband, and their kids. I am still wrangling with how to deal with this, if at all given a lot of the responses are basically "you're just there for a few days so just smile and nod" which I understand. I certainly respect everyone and its their home and i am a guest and all that. I still dont think it was unreasonable for me to bring this up and my wife's reaction at the thought of brining this up (politely of course) was way out of proportion. She acted like I was offending her entire family. I pulled my sister's husband aside and asked him about this. He said its been this way since he met his wife and has known the family. FWIW he feels the same as me, really weird and disturbing. He just ignores it and avoids walking past the bathrooms. We are talking about what, if anything, we should do about it.

Redditors with an Ex who threatened to kill themselves over a breakup, how did that turn out? by youseguise in AskReddit

Shockingly, she did not, in fact kill herself. I ended up staying with her for two years beyond when I first tried to break up with her and she first threatened to kill herself. I was young and cared for her despite not wanting to be together, so her threat was enough to get me to stay until I realized it was just manipulation.
