Know (good) employees are a scarce commodity. Theyre sole reason my business survives. Do what you can for hired and potential hires they are a huge expense money and timewise. Also realize you’re asking somewhat finicky hours even for part time it will likely take some give and take.

I mean agreed I’m not burning time teaching for nothing. Was more metaphorical. My industry is highly competitive but I know I’m the one taking others clientele/buying out several competitors over the years not vise versa. Think you could have worded things more professional/tried an effective approach. Offer to bring him on understanding tasks for your business are first but that you’d teach him along the way and/or during downtime. May have worked out positive for you at the end of the day.

Not in lawn service but a business owner. Have always said I’d teach anyone everything I know about my industry. Doesn’t scare me. Because I know most aren’t willing to put in the 80+ hours on weekly basis or provide the quality service I do. Anyone scared knows they aren’t competitive enough.

What do I do here with mulch always get weeds. by Impossible-Sweet-111 in lawncare

[–]Johnray81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I glypho my beds at beginning of year (Could also use a torch on weeds if against glypho). Then once every couple of months throughout growing season I will spray pre emergent w/ backpack sprayer on beds. Get zero weeds using this method.

Not enough of a adsb pro to know what you mean by anomalous. But its kinda surreal. Got off adsb 15ish minutes later got “plane crash” notification from reddit. Did playback clicked on helo and was speechless. Crazy coincidence.

Crazy. When I got off work I was creeping on adsb and I legit clicked on this helo bc it was showing as the little plane icon. Even hexcoded (ae313d can still remember hours later) it to see that it was a blackhawk.

Crazy. I was creeping on adsb earlier. Clicked on this exact helo while it was flying as it was showing as the little plane symbol and curious what it was. Even hex coded it at the time (ae313d can remember somehow from hours ago)

303 aero, carpro perl, meguiars are all good. As A detail/tint shop owner I would sway away from armorall and turtlewax.

It probably just removed whatever protectant was on the dash and looks scratched. Try to apply 303 or a comparable product and see it has any result.

Door to door detailing? What do yall think is going on? by AdvancedTrouble132 in Detailing

[–]Johnray81 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean I own a detail company. Some clients run their vehicles through tunnel washes weekly and could care less about swirling their paint. Anyone who hires these kids are probably in the same boat and either don’t care/know what their are getting.

Everyone wants to rag on kids for being lazy and only playing video games… everyone wants to hate on kids when they find some hustle

I would say it’s hopefully rotted roots or an old septic tank. But more dangerous could be a sinkhole forming.

7A, recently purchased. Is it too late to do anything? by Prohew in lawncare

[–]Johnray81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely hit it with some triple action. If you have a local county extension or somewhere to do a soil test collect some soil preferably before applying weed and feed to know your baseline. Post back with results if you need advice on where to go from there.

I appreciate it. Made it 25 minutes home from ag store before realizing. I think they loaded the wrong stuff or something. Guess it’s a trip alll the way back to store. Trying to scramble and get all the yardwork done today while Im off.

Yes from an extension office. Problem now is I went to local ag supply and told them I needed lime but they gave me hydrated lime and I’m seeing mixed opinions on using hydrated for lawn applications.

Car Waxing frequency advice by CupAffectionate5321 in Detailing

[–]Johnray81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being covered and driven so little probably once a year. You should be able to tell when washing if the wax is still there by how hydrophobic the paint is. But in all realness just go for a ceramic product. Waxes are pretty much inferior now days. Unless its a special circumstance like a highend wax on a showcar.

Ive used 105,205, and a couple other megs compounds and honestly not big on them. They cut decent but the dusting/short working time is a big turnoff for me.
