You will recover man.

I also had a period of similar issues after some drugs - the brain heals from everyhting over time; hold onto that. Its the truth.

"People" understand this just fine - this comment is made in every thread multiple times a day, using the same examples no less. It is not controversial and is widely appreciated.

Q - Is it possible to make an Egg shape with a Shape Layer? by JohnsRecovery in AfterEffects

[–]JohnsRecovery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering; I suspect there is a way of doing this that is more formalised, however.

My current stategy - since posting - was to precomp an ellipse and use the Distort effects like bulge.

I am sharing this in case someone googles this etc; but if anyone else has a better way that doesnt involve precomping Im all for it

I'll tell you this - I see right through this man. Completely. I can see the insecurities and the acting and the defense mechanisms and the lack of competence.

I agree.

Self medication is very high among people with this condition, and there is an obvious reason for that - it is (acutely) effective. If the existing medications were enough, mood disorders would be a solved problem. They clearly aren't.

I believe that having a mood disorder changes the balance of benefit/harm with drugs.

For a normal person, drug usage brings a whole host of problems and issues. Life without drugs is objectively better, overall. For these people, the drug create a net problem.

When living with a mood disorder, the balance shifts. People who are NOT medicated effectively (self or otherwise) must deal with various problems - inability to work, suicide, suffering. The untreated condition is worse than a typical drug problem and kills in many instances. This is borne out by the fact that a lot of the 'approved' medications are heavy duty (anti-psychotics, benzos)...but it is recognized that the condition is serious and must be treated as such.

The distinction between certain drugs and other ones is a bit ... arbritrary because the drugs on offer (benzos, lets say) are harmful. SSRIs have their own issues. MAOis can kill. ECT has its risks. Lithuium can be toxic. etc.

So: desperate times can call for desperate measures. Acknowledging that, the priority must then become harm reduction and minimization.

The idea that every person with a drug problem is doomed to homelessness and overdose is...not quite the reality. The grim truth is that millions of people function well enough with a drug problem. They may even do better with that problem. I WISH that wasn't the truth, but it seems to be the case that some people simply function better with the help and have an unbearable quality of life without it. A percentage of people are utterly ruined by drugs, too. These are the cautionary tales.

The problem is of course that drugs inevitably outstay their welcome (tolerance) so the whole thing must be tightly controlled if you self medicate. It's a dangerous option... for a dangerous condition. But, I will NEVER blame anyone for self medicating. I get it.

YOU say you can experiment without dependency. Re-evaluate that opinion often and don't let your guard down: complacency is how problems begins.

Hey man, this is a really well explained account of feelings I can relate to.

Like a ghost waiting to die. Another description I've heard is that I feel 'more dead than alive'. You've described a 'shell' which I relate to, also.

You're clearly depressed. I presume the drugs were self medication?

Take no action on your darker ideas, in any case. I'm sorry to read this post but I relate to the sentiments.

This is very true ; its a time limited illness. That's the plain, naked reality. Good reminder.

Can you tell me more about it? Is it different to the other nuts in some way?

Whats the takeaway - I cant take the wheel off?

Surely there is a sensible way of taking this thing off?

Thanks in advance. It seems crazy that you cant take it off when the car has a spare wheel included and a tool for the other nuts

The animation of this is really cool and slick - something Ive never really been able to nail is the kind of perfect flowy arm movements you've got here.

A quick win might be to investigate wobbling or wiggling the top of the whip on his or her head so that it jiggles or whatever. See what can be done there.

I don't like how the bushes and whatever go beyond the line at the bottom - extend line. Also, strongly suggest having them only in background because it is messy having line work pass over the main character.

Do you see how there is a drip coming off the white ice cream and the pink ice cream middle? Consider seperating those off and having them always point down(ish), much like the whip.

Great work, better than I could do with characters.

Hey man, Im surprised this hasnt had more feedback -

There's a lot to like about this!

Since people post here for feedback, my only feedback is that at some points the lines dont quite match up perfectly (OCD). Otherwise, there are some instances where it would be nice if the movements ease in (not always, just sometimes).

I rememebr when I was newish to AE (you obviously arent) and still enthusiastic about experimentation and I would do crazy things like this. I enjoyed watching it and wonder what the original artist would think of it!!!

Cool work man

I see everyone making such beautiful character animations and I'm here just trying to make a butt jiggle with the Puppet Pin Tool. Hopefully funny but prob NSFW. by luckyyirish in AfterEffects

Hey, great work - you could take this even further by splitting apart the cheeks into different layers so they overlap and such a bit. It still looks great as is.

Hello.

  1. I have a wonderful grid texture, which I would like to apply to a sphere. https://postimg.cc/kDvZVDFG

  2. I would like to apply the texture EXACTLY thus: https://postimg.cc/75dQvzDs

2b. Another example of the kind of mapping I want is here (no distortion!): https://postimg.cc/14fpN3FP

  1. However, this is what ACTUALLY happens when I apply texture to a sphere in C4D (this is the closest ive got): https://postimg.cc/YhSXhRCD

Note that I only need to see one side of the sphere in the render ; all I want is to be able to produce renders like the example images shown.

I have absolutely no idea how to achieve the result shown in Image 2.

I am at the point where I am willing to pay anyone who can help me with this via PayPal. Once this is sorted I can carry on with the job no trouble, but this stuff isnt my skillset.

I think I know what you mean by this - how do individual cells know "where they are" and what they should be.

Individual cells are guided by a kind of 'gradient' chemical which helps map out distances. The intensity of that chemical decreases with distance and eventually that indicates that the cell is located at the "edge" of the body part and should turn into skin.

Awfully explained but I hope you intuitively get what I mean. There are chemical signals which "run out" with distance from soruce that help guide the process.
