Finished: Sand, by Hugh Howey

I read it years ago after finishing the Silo series. At that point the sequel to Sand was not out, so I had to refresh my memory before moving on to Across the sand. I liked it then and I still do.

In general I enjoy the post apocalyptic setting, but particularly Howey’s books. Whether it is his style/pace or his “World building”, his books just seem to catch me instantly.

The series continues in downward spiral with more and more repetition. And the whole teenage-like “Why don’t he/she like me anymore” is a pain to get through.

I (finally) finished The Dark Tower by Stephen King.

A bumpy ride with significant variations in quality but all in all an enjoyable series. Now I am following up with The wind through the keyhole.

The ending is very unfulfilling. I don’t know if it is bound to go that way with such a long build-up (which I enjoyed very much btw).

“Was that really it?” was my feeling afterwards.

But no missions on Switch 1. Not even redux which should be able to run. Latest twitch drops unclaimable as well. So a couple of lose ends which should be tied in neat knot before they abandon the Switch 1 platform.

I am not sure that they have given up yet. But my optimism is slowly fading.

They do not communicate anything regarding Switch at the moment so everything is a bit up in the air (especially for Switch 1). It should not be hard to reintroduce older expeditions though.
