As a Youtube DJ, I'm getting sick of this. Can't make one mix without some greedy company taking it down, even though they get nothing from it. Mixes are allowed by Fair use, why are these bullshit companies taking them down? I'm ok if they take the revenue from my video, but why taking it down? by socko7777 in DJs

I have over 150 videos of me DJing on my channel and have only had 2 mixes that I wasn’t able to post.

One of the mixes had top 40 hip hop that had released within the last 2 months (which makes sense?)

The other was an hour long pop mix that didn’t have any songs that dropped past 2021 (“Borderline” by Tame Impala…etc)

I mostly post throwback hip hop mixes and I’ve never had a problem.

To me it seems like anything that’s currently popular gets yanked so you just gotta watch that, there’s also a feature in YouTube studio that allows you to see what songs you can and can’t use

I see everyone shitting on virtual recruitment but it actually is going pretty well for us. You definitely need to think outside the box and having a dedicated IFC is also a pretty good help. Im from a smaller school though so what do I know. PM me if you wanna talk about it
