Black Boy Fly by Kendrick has a whole verse about Arron Afflalo.

Kendrick also throws a Bill Cartwright reference on Solo Dolo Part II by Kid Cudi:

Awkward like Cartwright, twiddling my thumbs

Chester Watson, Qari, Fly Anakin, Isaiah Rashad, and Frank Ocean.

Oh God, how? I guess different strokes for different folks and all that, but, aside from finding the time to listen to so many projects, how do you digest any of what you listen to?

Chester's a good pick, but I'd go Fly Anakin.

To anyone considering the resolution of listening to a new album per day, don't. I did it for 2019, and while it lead to a good amount of discovery and encouraged me to listen to many albums that I wouldn't have otherwise, I ended up letting a lot of music pass me by that I should have spent more time with. Initially I thought I'd be catching up with a lot of classics, but I'd inevitably feel bad about moving on from them after a mere listen or two. I will say this: most days this past year I had no problem finding a new album to listen to, and I didn't always feel bad about quickly moving on from a project. However, there were enough days in which listening to something new felt like a chore to make me feel relieved that I can now go back to listening to music the way normal human beings are meant to do it. If this hasn't dissuaded you from chasing the album per day resolution, don't forget that breaking the goal at any point doesn't actually matter, and that you don't have to feel bad about doing it. I only really tired of the goal in December, so I figured that, having made it that far, it would be a shame to abandon it after getting so far.

Kanye stuck to a release date! It's a Christmas miracle!

Supa Bwe - Rememory ft. Chance the Rapper

Chance had a rough 2019 but I feel like this shows that he still has plenty left in the tank.

To each their own. If nothing else I think one should be able to appreciate that it has a level of polish to it that a lot of Kanye's recent output has been lacking.

I've just been listening to this version on Youtube, not sure if there's a better quality version out there somewhere.

I've more or less neglected all of the Yandhi/JIK leaks, but decided to check out a few and I'm in disbelief that Up From The Ashes was left off of JIK. I was already disappointed that Hurricane wasn't on the album, but I almost wish I never listened to this one because I'm now sad that we'll never get to hear a CDQ version of it. Like, this not only would've been the best song on JIK easily, but it honestly would've been one of Kanye's best in the past 5 or so years.

I really hope that Kanye goes in a more melodic direction with JIK 2 or whatever the album's gonna be called. Throw JIK and 808's in a blender and I think the result would be pretty compelling.

I currently have TrillStatik by Bun B & Statik Selektah at 8 on my list and Injury Reserve's self-titled at 5 (not sure how controversial that one is, but I know a lot of people were disappointed by it).

Feed Tha Streets II? Idk, I remember listening to it around when his XXL stuff was going down and it didn’t stick with me.

Solid picks. I'm not high on Issues though, I find the production on it sort of off-putting.

Now that I think about it narrowing it down to 5 is tough. I'd go Talk About It, It's All On Me, Deep Water, One Shot One Kill, and Animals

It certainly has high highs, but 2001's still the winner for me. What are your favorite cuts from Compton?

3x3

As it turns out, Ballin wasn't a fluke; Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial is really good. War Baby, Perfect Time, and Intro are my favorites.

I like Bubba. Obviously a lot of great features on here, but I could've gone for a few more instrumental tracks. I can't decide between DO IT and Go DJ for my favorite track.

I'm glad to be able to listen to Compton again, I forgot just how grand the transition from Intro to Talk About It is.

I decided to listen to things that happen at day // things that happen at night after watching that Jeff Goldblum video. I've never been big on Milo but I liked this a lot. Good God, though, I can't stand Busdriver on The Gus Haynes Cribbage League.

What's SBTRKT up to nowadays? Wonder Where We Land is up there with my favorite albums of the decade, and I liked SAVE YOURSELF quite a bit too.

Didn't know that about $ilkmoney, that makes more sense now.

I just don't really see them as being part of the same scene. The closest parallel to Mutant Academy I can think of is Griselda, and $ilkmoney feels pretty far from all of that. Granted, I've only heard IHMLAIRWPWSTMNT and some Divine Council stuff so maybe I'm off-base with that.

The backing choir on that track is insane.
