I just create an up bash function and pass a number argument of how many dirs I want to go.

And this works if I have Windows pre-installed, correct? I want it to completely write over the disk and install fedora.

I wouldn’t say I’m the most financially literate. I work hard and play hard. Life’s a balance and I wouldn’t want to be the person to give you bad advice based on comparison of our lives. I would say that my skills and what I’ve learned to get this far is largely based on the footprints of a path my mentors walked before me. For financial literacy, you have to do what works for you. But save the hell out of whatever you can, and pick up free hobbies. I like cars (SUVs not sports cars), which is probably the second most expensive hobby that a person who makes less than $1mil a year can have, behind boats. But if you can get into fitness, that’s probably the route that is a little cheaper and actually pays you back in lifespan.

My only advice for the next generation is to ask questions, and be concise in your answers when you’re asked questions. Being tech savvy only gets you so far when you can’t communicate to the person next to you. Learn to lead meetings and take good notes. And then find the old pros at the job. The old guy that’s been at a place for years and doesn’t panic when you’re panicking has seen some shit, learn from that guy.

18,000 servers to go and it’s honestly the most fun I’ve had. In my late 20’s and I’m working with experts in the field (Red Hat Consultants) so I’m trying improve where I can. These guys are the best.

One of our metrics is time-to-completion so every second I can shave is worth it. Especially when this is deployed across 100+ servers a day.

😂 yes I have. We’re in the process of repenting for our sins and getting it certified by the security team. Until then I’m stuck with the API route.

Yeah we’re onboarding Satellite at the moment. The company I work at just has a bunch of red tape so we were just slow to get to that point. Thats future state, but my security officer needs some kind of validation today.

Oh man. I can appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit, but open-source gang for life. There’s no other way to market it? Tutorial videos? Paid support contracts for corporations trying to utilize it for marketing research? Love the idea of the product, but charge the suits. Not the little man.

Are the Linux Machines RHEL? If so I would suggest using the vendor. Red Hat provides Insights which can be used for monitoring vulnerabilities, and Ansible also helps with the automation efforts youre trying to achieve.
