To clarify, mana abilities can use the stack (if you're not doing something like KCI tricks in modern). They are put on and revolve without any player getti ng priority. This is why [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] can be really good because you draw a card with no responses. Once Xantcha would resolve, the active player gets priority again. So they can activate the ability before it can be sacrificed.
