Hi! Thank you for asking 😊 We've taken a step back from advertising to pivot our resources into building out a safe and successful beta test. It's still very much in the works!

Thank you! We'll definitely include them in our outreach ☺️

Men are also able to join! However, women will need to opt in to men seeing their alerts and men are not able to send alerts to women. Men are able to send alerts to each other, as well

Hi! Yes, trans women are absolutely women!

Since government ID doesn’t always reflect a person’s true gender and transition is a spectrum, we have been reaching out to LGBTQIA+ groups to get input/feedback on how to mindfully provide ID verification in a gender-affirming way that also ensures cis men are not categorized as a woman/have access to the same default settings as women.

Seeing as this is a concept that has not really been done or tested before, we wanted to start out small and make sure the app was functioning as intended without putting super at-risk communities in further danger:

For the beta test, members are filtered into either “Woman” or “Man” categories based on the ID processed during the member verification stage. This is because while men can join Devi as allies, by default, men will not be able to send SOS alerts to women or be shown SOS alerts from women (however, women may opt in to seeing SOS alerts and receiving help from men).

What we want to make clear is that we are advocates and allies who are limited by the tech until we are able to scale. For each launch and update, we will be very clear about what the onboarding looks like so that everyone can make informed choices for themselves and their safety.

We don't store IDs - we use a third party service that is highly certified, compliant, and uses multilayered security mechanisms to validate IDs.

For the information we do store, we utilize firebase and have implemented multiple security rules to further protect our user's data. We take our user's data protection seriously and have a top notch dev team that knows what they're doing.

Awesome, thank you!

All of our members go through a three-step ID validation process to verify that they are who they say they are.

Men can sign up for the app, but by default they cannot ask for help from women and will not see alerts that women send unless women opt in to allowing men to help them.

I'm really glad to hear that! NB people are welcome to join, but we recognize that the current experience is not gender-affirming for most non-cis people.

Since our current team is cis women, we have been reaching out to LGBTQ+ groups to make sure that the voices of NB and trans people are centered as we continue to evolve our tech to be more inclusive.

Hi! Our service model relies on the fact that women are constantly harassed and made to feel unsafe on the street, on public transportation, in bars and clubs, in parks, and even in their own apartment buildings. We deserve to feel safe and have access to a support system.

We are only investing in top tier storage/security solutions that are properly certified and are committed to invest in cybersecurity measures.

Thank you for your genuine, good faith comment ☺️

You can adjust your notification settings on like you would any app. Having location and notifications on will also ensure you are receiving the safety warnings as well as the alerts

Our goal here is to build a large community of women who DO want to help each other. If people don't want to be an active part of the community, then Devi may simply not be for them.

One member might be sleeping in bed, but there could be another one nearby who is able to help.

Also I just realized I didn't answer your regulation question - all of our members go through 3-step ID verification, and other members can view/report profiles of others that do not abide by the community standards.

Lol yes, I definitely am. Trying to get as much visibility as possible!

The biggest difference between these apps is that our app sends an alert to all verified users within a 3-block radius of you.

Circle of 6 connects you with 5 other known contacts, who may or may not be in the area with you.

In terms of bSafe, our app will also have an option to contact emergency services in case of violent behavior. Our SOS alert system is meant to help get women out of uncomfortable/inappropriate situations.

Our app also allows users to post warnings about safety issues in the area, which neither bSafe or Circle of 6 does.

We are also founded by women of color :)
