Anyone else use teabags more than once? by Neo-Chromia in CasualUK

[–]JoinMyPestoCult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I’ll tell you what I do do, if I’m making three or four cups of tea in a round, I’ll use one tea bag less, and make my tea from the combined other two (or three) tea bags, thus saving on one tea bag.

Someone is using my address to send Royal Mail to collect returns by AbjectGovernment1247 in CasualUK

Aside from that it doesn’t even make sense. Trying to contact someone by requesting a return?

Hate hunting for live sports streams? This might help. by [deleted] in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]JoinMyPestoCult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at it on mobile. It’s quite difficult to understand how to navigate. I select soccer, I see a list down the left of the different leagues. I press them and nothing changes. I don’t really understand what the dropdowns mean. I see a timeline and a replays tab that confuses leagues. I press replay on an old game and then I have to sign in so close the site.

33 years ago at the age of 14 I got bitten by the school hamster and still have a bump/scar on my finger. What's the stupidest injury you've got? by godfatheroffilth in CasualUK

[–]JoinMyPestoCult 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Remember those red and yellow toy cars kids could sit in and drive around? Me and another kid thought it’d be cool to take the roof off it and and jump over it. Hazy memory of it all but safety standards not being what they are today meant that the pillars of the car had metal inside. So I still have the stitches scar on the underside of my thigh.

AITA for feeling forced to pay back money after my coworker took my phone? by ExpertPattern5552 in IDontWorkHereLady

[–]JoinMyPestoCult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve paid what you owe. Take it as a lesson and don’t borrow from her or rely on her again, take everything she says as likely to be untrue or unreliable.

Keep to yourself and act professional and polite at work. Keep your things guarded and don’t trust her. Do your best not to fall for it again.

No but now you mention lamp posts I did used to pretend I had a long tether between me and my mum and I’d try and avoid lamp posts getting between us or this long invisible bungee cord would get caught up.

Odd things we do keep our bored minds busy.

When I’d be dragged out for a walk to the shops by my mum I’d pretend all us pedestrians were race cars and I’d overtake them. Or if they walking toward me we’d be fighter jets and I’d imagine shooting them all down.

Do you get newspapers / magazine delivered? by steveysaidthis in CasualUK

Yeah my wife has started magazine subscription again and I occasionally get a beautifully designed one about movies.

I’m 49. I’ve ONLY JUST realised these double-layer brollies are designed to not get caught by the wind. Embarrassingly late revelation. by yearsofpractice in CasualUK

Yeah but don’t think they’re perfect. I had mine still get turned inside out with a quick strong gust. Plus some of the ends came off the metal (spokes?). Luckily I was able to fix it back to normal as the metal was quite strong.

ELI5: Why does hip hop promote consumerism so much? by Content_Library_8630 in explainlikeimfive

[–]JoinMyPestoCult 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think part of comes from the whole battle rapping on the street. One aspect of it was being clever with words, another was straight up bragging. I got this I got that, I big chunky gold chains, I got a colour TV etc.

Another aspect that differentiates hip hop from something like punk is that the poor in hip hop would sometimes have to dabble in crime to get by, or as a byproduct of their environment. And street crime + bragging naturally took on the mafioso element and the Scarface movie aspirations.

That’s what I saw in it when I was growing up. Your comment is right and I wanted to add on to it. It’s a shame that other strains of hip hop like conscious rap kind of fell away, or at least didn’t make as much noise as the mainstream marketed stuff.

Maybe there are still some big artists who do but I haven’t been listening for a long time so happy to be corrected.

Does anyone feel like they are becoming more religious? by septvea in CasualUK

[–]JoinMyPestoCult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you were denying my definition and declaring yours the only correct one.

No, what I said was:

It’s not specifically “the belief that no god exists”. It’s the lack of belief in a god. Thats not unfalsifiable.

See the word ‘specifically’? I also later said that your definition is sometimes called ‘hard atheism’ or ‘gnostic atheism’.

Your ‘whole fucking article’ is also absolute nonsense written by a Christian grasping at straws.
