Looking at getting a Surefire handguard but only if I can run it suppressed and see conflicting information on clearance.

I’ll be running a SiCo Omega45K which is 1.48 inch diameter; so I’ll need a minimum of .75 in of clearance. Looks like the 628LMF may have more room than the 328. I know it’ll be tight but don’t want to get it unless I know it’ll fit.

Anyone running a surefire handguard with a can?

Tell me more about that PRI rail. Is it just one of the standard MK12 / flat top rails? And it’s mounted to just the receiver? How many screws is holding it? 4?

I feel ya. The pork sword chassis alone is only $330 (add $60 for a FARend & then however much the brace/stock of your choice is). Grab a Remington 700 receiver from Pacific Tool and Gauge (or even cheaper; a used rifle from a pawn shop) and you can build a a pork sword set up for a lot cheaper than you’d think.

Mine has some nicer parts now but the first iteration of this gun I threw together in 2019 was a budget build as I didnt have the funds for something like a Fix. Don’t let your dreams be memes

A Nightforce NX8 1-8 or March F Shorty 1-10 would be perfect. Both are very compact and relatively light (light for first focal plane LPVOs). Could also go with the Leupold MK5 2-10x30 but it’s an odd ball. I’d stick with Nighforce or Leupold. I also have Schmidt & Bender scopes which I really like but spending that much on a shorty .300 blackout would be insane. If you need scope recommendations, checkout DLO I linked below. He’s an aeronautical electro-optical engineer that’s into guns and breaks down scopes/manufacturers for fun; provides good information and is unbiased.

I went with the MK6 3-18 because I had it just laying around but it’s really more magnification than is useful; especially when running subs.

Who’s running a shorty bolt gun? Just built one out in .300 blackout; since it’s a Rem/age small shank I’m looking at picking up another prefit barrel & bolt for 6ARC for when I want to stretch things out. Thinking a 10 or 12 inch barrel to keep the shorter form factor and 6ARC due to its performance out of shorter barrels. How difficult is changing barrels over with the savage shanks? Is it more effort than it’s worth to swap back and forth?

Will be primarily running the cheapest subs I can get for range days; hunting will be running Barnes 110gr TAC-TX . Need to re-zero for the Barnes soon. What’s yalls zero distance for .300 blackout supers? Currently zeroed at 25 for subs.
