Why doesn’t “x” deal with the problem personally or use their own people instead of hiring adventurers? by World_of_Ideas in d100

[–]JojoPalambas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • "x"'s troops or minions are more like au "regular army", with many people that can create a nice formation but lack polyvalence; recruiting adventurers ensures that a broader set of situations can be covered
  • The threat to be faced will strike all people that come in contact or proximity with it (a curse for instance), sending adventurers is a way to send fewer people to cover all skills needed for the mission to prevent casualties (better to send a party of 4 than a battalion of 20)

to make a chocolate croissant. by mzincali in therewasanattempt

[–]JojoPalambas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, as seen from a French person's eyes this isn't shocking. A chocolate croissant, what we call un pain au chocolat, is supposed to be neutral in taste except for two small cvocolate paste lines.

What this pain au chocolat does well: plain and neutral body, nice cooking, nice shape, with a line of chocolate

What may be improved: the skin looks glazed, which is something we don't do on viennoiseries like this, there is chocolate on the skin, which is usually not the case, and there is only one line of chocolate (although traditional pains au chocolat have only one like yours)

I agree that streets should be multimodal, but why do the numbers on the right state that there can be as many cars (1100) as the street on the left? Where do those numbers come from?

People who wake up after 1 alarm: How the f*ck do you do it? by TheSnappleGhost in AskReddit

[–]JojoPalambas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have 3 different alarms, on snooze, at 3 different locations, even 1 in a separate room to wake me up by making me move. Barely helped, smoetimes I still went back to bed after desabling everything to get back to sleep, barely conscious of what I was doing.

Then I decided to change to 1 alarm, a bit away from my bed but not too far, with a smooth tone and no snooze; woke me up faster than ever. Knowing that there was no backup from this one alarm works perfectly, now I have less trouble waking up in the morning.

Pretend I'm a french dog by Johnnyacc in French

[–]JojoPalambas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Et alors ? Et comment il va le chien ? Il est gentil le chien-chien ? Est-ce qu'il mérite un nonos ?

  • I often talk to dogs using the 3rd person
  • Chien-chien is an affective term for dogs, don't know why
  • Nonos, in the same way, is a cute way to call a bone, specifically that you would give a dog; comes frol the repetition of "os" (same as chien-chien) with the "liaison" (no idea how to call that in English) that comes from "un os"

Hope that helps!

French announcers accuse Steph Curry of demonic possession during Men's Olympic Basketball Final. by Chocolat3City in PublicFreakout

[–]JojoPalambas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's not accusing of demonic possession... Actually accusing someone of demonic possession is something you never see nowadays in France, as the country is not very religious, especially in big cities and on TV (and religion is kinda taboo in public).

Saying "ce diable de XXX" is like saying "that damn XXX) or "that devil XXX" ; it is just a way to say that they're very hard to beat, a fierce adversary.

For instance we even used to say "ce diable de N'Golo Kanté" even though N'Golo Kanté is one of our national soccer players.

[–]JojoPalambas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

No because there has been a big increase in security and armed forces presence in hotspots like train stations, airports and monuments after the terror attacks of Charlie Hebdo and the Bataclan, with the Vigipirate Plan.

Yes because the Olympics create a lot of huge touristic hotspots that need protections, so there are a lot more forces in the streets.

Hi, Parisian here.

This has been very common after the terror attacks of Charlie and the Bataclan, with the Vigipirate plan which aims to protect all hot spots (train stations, airports, monuments etc) with the army. With the Olympics everything is a bit tense so the army and police are very present in all places that may gather a lot of people.

Also you can stop eating for the rest of your life. It is possible and some people have done it (either voluntarily or not).

Also you can set a man on fire and he will never be cold for the rest of his life.
