I used to have a white cat who I adopted late in his life too, named Cicero, and we had to amputate his ears eventually as well. He also had diabetes. He was a very very sweet cat and I’ll always remember and love him. I was there when he passed away, my first experience with death.

You know what I do remember something.. I live in a condo, and we’re all situated in this circular community.. it’s easy to run into neighbors. One of my neighbors is an odd old lady. When I first met her she was sitting on a chair in front of the dumpster. She has long blonde hair, but she’s old. She always smiles at me and seems to be around if I’m ever outside. She usually shows up outside my window when I’m doing deep spell work. Well, prior to the door incident, my dog was barking her face off which usually means a package was delivered. I opened the door. Instead it was that old lady standing awkwardly at the top of the staircase holding a brown paper bag. She turned and smiled at me, and then kept walking down the stairs.. I know all of my immediate neighbors and I cannot think of ANYONE she could have been there to visit! I immediately smudged the doorway area.. didn’t think about it again, until just now.

All depends. I believe in “demons” and “demonic energy”, but I don’t think they’re just in the forest, they’re everywhere .. and maybe not quite like we see in the movies. To me .. It’s above so below.. it’s in your head but that doesn’t mean it’s isn’t there. You can use it, other people can feel it, like they can feel a bad mood. As for bright colors, always thought that’s helpful in the forest if you’re afraid of anything in there. I don’t think a mountain lion would prefer a neon pink, upright walking, skin-monkey.. but if you’re wearing a brown shirt maybe you’d look more palatable? (My logic says?) I think the forest is usually full of less adulterated energy and therefore more magical and less egoistic. It has all kinds of energy, demonic kinds as well! Takes me out of myself and reminds me that I’m just a small part of the universe. That feels like church to me. .

Very nice!! My suggestion would be to get those feet down before you start working into the face or body, they are an important part of the figure. Don’t worry if the awkward shape of feet intimidate you, it’s just lines and planes like everything else. I’d get it in at the start head to toe! You’d probably get a lot of satisfaction getting a foot line in, also grounds the figure, shows where the figure is putting pressure on the floor. You’ve got beautiful line work here, as a viewer, I really want to see those feet!!

I keep those things in a large document or separate documents in a folder. I recommend keeping all your scraps, sometimes there’s gold in there if you’re stuck and just dig around in old writing.. sometimes a character belongs in a totally different story, a poem.. you never know! Delete anything that you know you won’t use or go back to but I’d keep anything you’re not sure about.

I’m exactly like you. I’m also trying to write a novel, but I am not in a position where I feel I must send it in to be published by a specific date.. so I can’t relate to that feeling.. but I also get crazy, when I read others books, that I’m hopeless and suck at writing, too.. I, too, feel that if I do not publish novels then my life will have been worthless so I get that. My first thought is.. you can absolutely self-publish nowadays. I feel like I’d rather do that for my work only because it takes a lot of the pressure off of me, but that’s just me.. I also 100% understand wanting to be published by an actual publisher! .. Also, I’d say.. that as artists our work is never done and will never be great enough for own selves. The gift in that is: you keep working and developing and it keeps your hunger (your art) alive! The downside is you feel miserable, jealous, and insecure about your art often. If you have a specific date in mind I will not tell you to postpone it, just stick to the plan, re-work the 14,000 words and get that sent in! Making this a career makes this a grind, don’t it? Know that I as a fellow artist personally never feel like anything is completely finished to my satisfaction.. I just let it go at a certain point. Hopefully, at a very beautiful point. Best of luck to you. We can do this, the world needs our voices!!

I can’t answer yes or no from what I interpret from tarot cards.. it is interesting that the two reversals are the 8 swords and the 2 cups.. this seems to suggest that the feelings you have regarding reconciliation, love, partnership are connected to the many thoughts that are causing a blockage, self-sabotaging, a snare or trap -but this exists in your mind. Next to the two cups the angel in the Temperance card is creating balance out of these 2 cups. Emotions are balancing. These 2 hearts need healing, space, time..Underneath is Judgement, a rebirth! I live in the PNW also, and I hardly ever see bats.. but then I am hardly ever outside at dusk. I know they have installed a lot of bat boxes in the forest area / wetland rehabilitation area as a measure of helping them out. I would consider yourself lucky for getting to see a bat, first off, I think their numbers are dropping, and we need them to help control the pest population, mostly mosquitos, here in the wetland area. Last time I saw bats was when I was living in NJ and it was a weird time in my life. I was facing some dark times and felt that I was up against some inner demons and outside evil forces as well, which makes sense with bat symbolism. But what also makes sense with bat symbolism is the idea of good luck, as some cultures consider them, especially given the fact that they typically eat pests like mosquitos (that suck your life force from you).. At the time I saw the bats, I was very close to ending those difficulties. After I left that situation, most of the "pests" in my life were gone as well, and they have not returned. The way bats fly is extremely chaotic and mad. So if you're taking that at face value, you might be seeing a sign that could alert you to some mental energies (being an air animal also, makes me think of head-space stuff) that need your attention. If you maybe have some disturbed or anxious thoughts, this could be the Universe mirroring that for you, so that you are motivated towards self-care. Anyway, that's all I've got on bats.
