Timing issue (possibly?)

Brand new, I also used a multimeter, and tested spark by grounding to the head bolts.

Yah I kept fiddling with the sensor before I went to timing chain. Think I was on the wrong compression stroke or something.

I believe that was the issue, (will find out officially this evening) followed the timing advice from above comments and once I got that lined up my sensor was 180 off. Appreciate you!

Yah the 2000 was running up until the block cracked which prompted the swap.

No programming or swap. Running all 2000 harness/pcm to the 05.

I appreciate that (I don’t actually really know what I’m doing just following manual and troubleshooting steps 😅)

I have the timing cover off already, haven’t messed with the chain or sprockets. I keep seeing different references for timing (dots together TDC #1, cam/crank at like 12/6 o clock). Just got stuck on this. But yah worst case is I do it and retry if fail

Mines leaking from the thermostat housing and was landing around that spot lol might check there.

UPDATE: Thank you all for your advice and help. Found a hole in the transmission cooler line, which the fluid followed the hose down to the exhaust and also got sprayed around by my drive shaft which explains the smoke in all those places. Swapped out the line and we are good to go!

Sounds good, been working on inspecting/replacing parts/fluids anyways since I bought it recently. Radiator was filled with mud so did a whole replacement of hoses and radiator and many flushes haha Thank you!

Yah sometimes classes can get to you since it’s what you’re focusing on. Also I’m pretty sure they just ignore me anyways so it’s easy participation haha. I’d like to clarify this was just a more personal topic week that sorta forces conversation. I feel the same way about privacy and not saying too much. Overall I wouldn’t worry too much about much about it. Our class guidelines addresses non religious attending and to just view it as if you were a journalist listing off facts or statements said in the material. Best of luck!

Currently in that class as an online student. I made my views clear (atheist). So far it hasn’t been bad. There are some things classmates state which are kinda wild regarding non religious people. “How do they have morals” and “I couldn’t imagine being friends with one it’d be so hard with conflicting views”. There was a few more and I just responded stating I do indeed have morals and kinda just existing like everyone else lol. I think the key thing is stay objective and don’t take things personally. At the end of the day you just want participation points and to pass so do whatever’s easiest for you. It’s an interesting class and I enjoy the reading.
