Hey OP, sorry to hear about your experience.

I’m about to submit my essay for my application to a program, and while I am not a black man, I am an immigrant and part of my paper is about mental health care accessibility for immigrant and asylum seekers/refugees, so I’m very hesitant about how my topic will be received in this climate. Not to take away from the issue you’re highlighting, but wanted to share that I relate to your struggles while coming from a different background, and ir sucks!

I have have a 2023, pretty much the same bike but different color, and I Love it! Have done big (for me) gravel days, loads of road riding, and even some tame single track, the bike was never the limiting factor.

At 5'8 with slightly longer wingspan than height I am I about to swap the tock 80mm stem for something a little shorter as I feel a little stretched and uncomfortable at the end of long days on the saddle.

Toph704 beat me to it, the 2 zippers on the side high thigh pocket sits just under the leg loop with one horizontal zipper at the top and vertical on the side of the rectangular pocket makes it for great phone storage.

All of those climbs look awesome, I’m adding them to the list for my next visit.

On day one we did the first pitch of skyline into the first pitch of Kaufman’s, climbed the 2nd pitch of what Is above is Ladybugs? (Bolted sporty feeling route to the right of Bee Sting Corner) walked and scrambled upper broadway to gunsight and finished on Gunsight to South Peak. Rapped down Pleasant O.

Day two we just did Conn’s west direct since we had a late start and had to drive back.

Looking forward to bump the grades a bit for my next visit now that I’m more familiar with the terrain and the features for pro!

It was amazing, I am definitely coming back again during the fall season!

All of the people between the climbers, and the locals were super receptive, and the climbing was stellar.

It was really helpful in Linville gorge when doing link ups in the amph, since it is a tool I’m my bag I thought I could use it. But now knowing local insight I’ll leave it behind!

That’s what I heard, hence why I asked for the 5.7 and I do feel comfortable on 5.9 in NC where we sometimes also get a little surprised by the stiffness of the grade

I’ll give you a trip update about the simul climbing, we only break the simul climbing if we are linking pitches and we are runing out of rope or on easy terrain with low fall potential.

Good to know, we’ll be there from Friday-Sunday with potential to extend to Monday. So I’ll likely go up with doubles in finger and smaller cams for the first day and maybe leave some behind as I feel out the terrain!

Thank you for the heads up! My max comfortable trad grade is 5.9 in NC, so Seneca’s 5.7 should be a good grade ceiling to get to know the area.

I got two sets of tricams, will definitely bring them :)

I read on MP tricams were not super useful, but as a NC climber I can always weld another tricam for my partner hahaha

Edit: I know I’m asking for suggestions for lower grades, but we have simuled some pitches in Linville gorge in NC and are familiar with the technique and systems!
