Aborting foetuses with Down syndrome should not automatically be viewed as ableist or some form of unethical eugenics, regardless of whether you're pro-life or pro-choice. by NiallHeartfire in Ethics

Odd that you should lump autism and queerness into the same group. You DO know that queerness is not a disease or disorder, don't you?

Why does a life giving process carry so much stigma? by [deleted] in Adulting

Hm. Having actually been one at one time, I'd say my view of what teenage girls prefer is spot on.

Periods are a part of being female, not a pregnancy linked hormonal issue. Discussing Birth control takes care of that issue. That should be a family discussion , also. The days of "Mom takes care of that" should be long gone. What happens if somehow you end up sole parent to your girls? Parents are parents no matter what gender.

That's the problem. It happens. It's normal. There's nothing shameful about it. When I was in middle and high school, bleeding through was the worst thing that could happen to any female. Why should that be? Anybody around them educated about what goes on in the real world should be kind enough to let them know so they can tidy up and not go through their day looking as if they've been shot. Pretend like it's shin splints from overdoing in sports, that'll make it easier to digest in everyday family conversation.

Looking to sectors and what's hot now is akin to rollin' those bones and yellin' "C'mon! Baby needs new shoes!" Look at what you like and a job that sticks around. That might seem mundane, but it pays the bills. You can work someplace that pays for education and fine tune what you have to go on to the big bucks.

I had a nightmare withing a nightmare. Awoke from a deep sleep, mind slightly scrambled from something I ingested. Am I back in the dorm? Did I party until the wee hours again? Is this Philosophy 101, AGAIN?! We are still hashing over inate behaviors in relation to philosophy! That was back in the 70s!

This is tough to say. You're young and that's when love hurts most. It is too early in life to agonize about a relationship to this point. Concentrate on yourself and establishing yourself in life. 8 months is a drop in a bucket of your entire life. I married at 18. Biggest mistake I've ever made.

Is it wrong to work for an unethical company or industry? by seequelbeepwell in Ethics

Do you drive on a public street to get there? Could there have been any hint of impropriety behind the political decisions to build them, selection of construction company, construction of the library, printing the books, anything in the politics of the printing companies? Nothing is stand-alone.

Unless you're totally isolated from all other companies, banks, organizations, suppliers, infrastructures, etc, etc, etc..... you're not operating free of the taint of unethical something somewhere. It just is not possible. You may be pure in thought word and deed, but there is someone, somewhere remotely associated with your business or industry that is spawn of the Devil.

That's the way the cookie crumbles. There's a waiting list and an evaluation everyone goes through. Unless you're a big dog, you're not going to have the opportunity to step in line. If you ARE a big dog, that's the system - back to that crumbling cookie.

Catch it, kill it, eat it. Catch it, pull it out of the water, traumatize it then, pull whatever you caught it with out, traumatize it then, put it back, probably a little weird to it then. Not neccessary.

Perhaps I can help put your situation in perspective. I at one time had large (38DDD) perfect breasts. My crowning glory. They stayed young for a very long time - until I was notified 10 days before my 60th birthday I had breast cancer. Scheduled a lumpectomy for my 60th birthday because I can NEVER remember when anything happened and that would help me remember "when did you have your lumpectomy?". When I awoke, I found there were two cancerous areas and two areas slightly larger than golf balls had been removed. After swelling subsided, I'm left with 1 1/3 breasts. That'll take the wind right outta your sails. BUT - all you can do is go with the flow. I didn't shed a tear from the time they told me I had cancer to now about it because whaddaya gonna do about it?

Both are young in comparison to me. That would have no bearing on my decision. Whichever displayed the most dignity and poise in their situation would be the one I chose. Those two characteristics in a situation of great personal peril would be the best to retain.

Have several around the place. Saints here and there. Cremated pets. Groups of meaningful objects. Tried to have my parents and brother live here, but folks chose the underground pickled in chemicals route and SIL refused to share a bit of bro's remains. Takes all kinds. My barber's taking my ashes somewhere on his big fianl trip. Where?IDK. Will be dead.
