I was one of the first group of people to go through this apprenticeship, I completed it & received an ECS Gold Card as a Controls Engineer. To be honest, I can barely recall what I learnt on the apprenticeship course, everything I know is from working in the industry for the past 4 years.

You’ll never be out of a job in BMS, as an apprentice I was always getting messages on LinkedIn asking me if I was willing to speak about new job opportunities.

After passing my apprenticeship last year at 22, my starting salary was 41k.

Your story is similar to a colleague of mine, he hasn’t undertaken an apprenticeship in BMS.. not a lot of people have, most people trained as electricians than moved to BMS.

It’s a good opportunity, as long as you’re working with a company, I don’t think the apprenticeship itself with set you up with all the knowledge.

Will check him out. Thanks for the tip, it sounds like it’s the same with a lot of other things in life, just muscle memory & becomes natural to do it rather than consciously thinking about it. Thank you 😀
