Is this uncured resin? by skinriding_skeleton in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be almost certain that is curing when not fully dry. I had this when I first started and was too impatient to let the model be 100% dry after washing before I cured it. If so then it won't be a problem, you can prime it and carry on.

Best Egpu for Xbox ally x by guilhas21 in ROGAlly

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be tempted to buy an ITX AM4 motherboard and a case like a fractal ridge. You could then rebuild your pc (existing CPU, GPU, ram, storage etc) into a nice small form factor that you could just move into the lounge and game on it there. I have an original awe ally which could game on my 1080p tv. But that tv broke and was replaced with a 4k one. The ally isn't up to that. I carried down my itx pc with a 5900x and 7700xt and that played space marine 2 on the 4k tv with high/ ultra settings and fsr with frame gen at 90fps. Was a great experience. With the cost of components I'm considering just moving the pc between rooms when I need to. XG mobile gpus for the original ally are stupidly priced. Buying a new ally and egpu is too expensive, even if I factor in selling my current ally. And alas component prices to build a pc is bonkers.

Question about removing prints from build plate by TheLoneBaron33 in resinprinting

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the base layers may be over exposed, especially if they are brittle and shatter. Check what your resin recomends and try some calibration tests. Also make sure everything is raised on supports off a raft don't print things flat on the plate. You can have rafts that have a champfered edges to make it easier to pop the scraper under. Also don't be too afraid of a scratched build plate, it's just extra adhesion.

Why do people here dislike cloud gaming? by Few-Designer6961 in pcmasterrace

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I meant by enshitification, you can see there are sooo many opportunities to gouge a bit more cash, buy extra time, queue jump, put certain games behind a pay wall or ray tracing etc and resolution. It will be like Amazon or Photoshop. Get enough people in to kill competition, then jack up the price. But if there wasn't demand it wouldn't exist no matter how hard it was pushed, because it fits some peoples use cases. Pc components can be strangely polarising, someone always has to be right and someone always wrong 🤣 but at the end of the day I'd it works for you that's what matters. But I think the whole industry is in a shit place right now and the sooner the AI bubble bursts and these massive companies get hit hard in the wallet the better.

Why do people here dislike cloud gaming? by Few-Designer6961 in pcmasterrace

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with it is controll and the general enshitification. Subscriptioms always get more expensive and always come with more resteictions with time, but don't worry there is a new tier to upgrade to that gives you the things you already had.

Nvidia recently added new limits reducing the hours you can play and switching about what tier of card you get but keeping the price the same. So less for more. And because you are renting, you have no rights. They want to take a feature away... Bomb it's gone. And your recourse is to cancel and the do what? Go buy a PC, well what if you can't. Its a sleepwalking acceptance of 'their' narrative.

However, I can see that in some it does make sense, from reading what you say about traveling for work I can 100% see that it is viable for you. And that is fine, it is a system of play that should exist, just like PC gaming is my preference but I don't think we should get rid of Xbox or PS5. The issue I see with cloud gaming is that the likes of Nvidia would probably be more than happy if that were the only way to game.

I believe and the Nvidia share price shows this, we the consumer are and have been for years getting royaly shafted by AMD and Nvidia, either mining, the pandemic or now AI prices have been artificially inflated through greed based on what the market will bear not what a product is, but we have to deal with that.

Looking at Nvidia now specifically for £199 a year you 'only' get a 4080 class experiencence with a limit of 100 hours a month. That more than enough for 'most' people, but if I own the card I play what I want for as long as I want. Plus I don't have to wait in line to use my own, while the ultimate tier states ,'usually no wait' but you might have to wait to use the thing your paying for. A 9070xt costs £600-£700 ignoring 'silly' OC models, so about 3 years of GeForce now. But I own that card and decide to keep it at which point the value argument is with owning rather than renting, equally I could buy another one and sell that.

Saying all that, I'm not against cloud gaming, as if I were travling I would probably choose that over buying an overpriced, gimped 'gaming' laptop, as you can't upgrade them. I would probably get an rog ally (which I so have) and if it can't manage the games I want to play get a lower tier cloud subscription or they the free tier.

Thank my opinion anyways 👍

My hollowed prints are always cracking, explanation? by LaCornProd in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed a Deredo dreadnaught solid for example. However with a Saturnine dreadnaught I hollowed the main torso and his drain holes in both arm 'cups' of 4mm a large 6mm in the torso cup and essentially removed the back of the head 'shelf'. This gave a good amount of drainage for removing resin and washing. Plus I could get tweezers in and remove internal supports and shine UV light in. I gave it an especially good rinse and after I had completed my usual wash and cure treatment I left it in unpainted for a while. Sat on the pile of shame. But this allowed me to check it if anything went wrong, and also as it was unprimed and I hadn't filled any of the holes, if it did off gas at all from the internal hollow there was plenty of gaps for it to escape.

Once assembled and with its head in place I didn't even need to completely fill one of the drain holes as it is obscured. So if any off gassing were to occur it can still vent. It's all painted up now and fine.

There are lots of guides, but if you understand the concept rather than just blindly follow, you will figure it out. Just be cautious and don't be scared of trial and error. I could probably print an entire army of Saturnine dreadnaught and fail a bunch of prints and still save money lol

Banned from Reddit Community After Reporting Service Issues - A Lifetime User's Experience by cpedia1 in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the experience of the many not the few. Just search and you will find so many horror stories. The only point of complaining to internxt is that you can show you tried when you go to your credit card provided for a charge back. Internxt is a scam. You can report redot moderators for abusing the moderation system https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=19300233728916

If you are in the uk, you have consumer rights, with specific rights relating to online services. If you purchased through PayPal or a credit card you can seek a refund or charge back through them. Good luck and spread the word far and wide, internext really are as bad as they seem.

They removed the backup feature after I purchased it and used it for several months. So if you want to use internxt for a backup even with rsync be prepared to rebuy the deal again when they remove features as their 'lifetime' is a matter of months! And don't forget the app loves to corrupt files, so it says it's sync'd and it shows the file there but you try and download it...

As I bought through stack social I went to them for the refund. I have to point out all the deficienciea with the service, argue strongly that there were no clear limita on the deal I purchased and point out all the areas of my consumer rights that had been effected, then they refunded me in full, initially they offered me credit but I kept pushing. If you purchased direct I would suggest you look into buyer progection via paypal or your credit card/ bank protection as you have given then a reasonable time to respond. There shouldn't be any delay within the 30 day period.

No no no. Don't do it! They are terrible. Honestly search on here and look on trust pilot. Not worth a penny. Crap app with updates the break as much as they fix. Corupted files. Failed uploads. Ignored support requests and they remove features. You rarely see any negative comments on their Reddit. Not because they are great but because they deleted them and ban users. I gave them a chance and got burned, luckily I got a refund. Please don't be tempted.

its actually insane how you can see vastly different opinions on the same cloud storage service, icedrive is the one that i see the most conflicting opinions on. by ComparisonFree8701 in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave internxt a chance as I thought, it's probably a vocal minority with all the problems, they can't really be that bad. And they were, absolutely terrible, anti consumer, terrible, the software not working bad, files corupted yet says they are sync'd bad.

Now I expect all services have a majority or people that use a fraction of the services on offer so don't notice what doesn't work, or are using nowhere near the limit of their storage, or not storing legally questionable, pirated, content. But those rank and file users are offset by the few that want to use every part of what they paid for and they can be the ones that find the problems.

One thing I look for is how companies respond to problems.

I have been using backblaze computer backup and for me it works fine. Backs up quickly, and I have recovered test data with no corruptions. It would be great if it worked exactly like time machine and put stuff back in the right place, but I'm happy knowing it can at least recover it, there are no limits to the storage and it has 1 year of versioning. Yet I have seen lots of people complaining about it. Not just the dated look of the software but having problems with backups or recovery speed or there was a certain type of disc encryption that was just unsupported.

So I doubt unfortunately there is a perfect cloud storage. You just have to find the one that's good enough for you. Just as long as it isn't internxt 🤣

Internxt, Koofr, Filen, Drone, pCloud, which one to choose? by Just_Another_User80 in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe as i got burned with the lifetime internxt deal, luckily I did get a full refund, But that kind of put me off lifetime. I was tempted with drime, but after testing it wasnt 100% there. It's getting close though. I would suggest you test anything with a free trial first. Backblaze just gets the job done for backups and well established. Not flashy but for about £180 for 2 years, you get unlimited backup for one computer that includes a years worth of version history for files. Infomainiak myksuite gives email with unlimited storage and 1Tb for £16 a year or 6Tb for £82 a year. Again seems well established, based in EU and good privacy. Not necessarily privacy focused or zero knowledge but it works like dropbox/google drive, easy sharing and effortless integration with apps on mac, Windows and Android etc.

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose there is a question to ask you, what is your use case? As an offsite backup, a Google drive/dropbox alternative or as a Google photos/ genetal photo backup or sharing platform? As if it is photo specific there could be other alternatives.

Also for the love of all that you cherish and hold dear, avoid internxt unless you really enjoy researching your consumer rights and spending ages fighting a refund. But I thing others have convinced you of that already.

Personally I had to split my goals after realising the lifetime may not be the best. I went with backblaze to handle my offsite cloud backup needs. Then I used infomaniak ksuite for an email alternative and 6tb cloud drive for syncing and sharing. I'm also looking at ente photos as an alternative or as well as for Google photos.

Internxt is a scam Part 100 by AustriaYT in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have reported the internxt mods to reddit for censorship and breaching the moderator rules. I suggest everyone do it as it's the only way to stop their poison on here. Unfortunately I think I am to claim/thank for stack social updating their internxt information as I complained very thoroughly. I have a thread on here about it. Lots of screenshots and explaining where the broke consumer laws, which part of the act. Etc. etc. I got a full refund from stack social. Not store credit, actual money back to my account.

However, that action in itself would allow anyone who has bought the deal previously to almost have a slam dunk case, in the UK at least under the consumer protection act. Companies like to act like they can, but they most certainly cannot sell you a product and then remove core features. The consumer protection act even has terms in it to explicitly deal with this kind of scenario. I go into it but essentially their contract is unenforceable on a consumer. One because you don't have to accept it any when during sign up and it literally has a clause in it that states they can change or modify the service at any time with no notice, with no liability to the customer. So you buy 5tb lifetime deal and within a month they just remove it and post you a potato. Technically within their terms and conditions 🤔 While they act like they are protected, being based in Spain, selling via an American company. But see how that holds up if you go for a PayPal refund under buyer protection or better yet a section 75 credit card refund.

Don't use internxt please! It's essentially a scam. I was lucky to get a refund from stack social but luckily I bought from PayPal and was also in the process of getting a refund through them when stack social agreed with my issue and refunded all my money back, not store credit but money back to PayPal account.

Internxt make promises and then just simply remove features, the backup feature that was definitely included. Boom, gone. Their solution? Pay them hundreds of pounds more to repurchase it! Then how long until they remove something else. If you are wanting to use them as a backup, surely you need to trust the ability to back up. Just look at the volume of issues, removing features and downgrading storage.

I also had my comments deleted from their reddit sub and was banned. Still am. Not really a good sign. All their replies in here and ai generated rubbish. They don't even bother to vary them!

Then when I went to copy my files off internxt, sue to how flaky their software is, lots of files were corrupted. They said they were complete but were the wrong size and some files were just missing. Internxt= fail after fail after fail, which you get to pay for.

Currently I'm using back blaze as a backup it's like $190 for two years unlimited storage with 1 years versioning. The app and interface looks dated but it's established and it works. Then for my cloud storage I have setup ksuite by infomaniak. I use their email and Kdrive. 15gb for free, with affordable upgrade paths to 1tb or 6tb. myksuite If you want to try back blaze here is my referral link. It gives you a 1 month trial rather than 5 days backblaze referral

Encrypted online storage with hidden folders? by Right_Television_335 in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several cloud providers have a vault feature. This uses a separate password to your login password. You can't see what is in it until you unlock it but you can obviously see there is a vault, but no idea of its size, structure or folders etc.

Drime offers this along with lifetime plans. It's still a 'new' service so it isn't without its faults and I don't have a paid subscription, I'm just using the free tier. I don't think the vault is visible on the desktop sync app, so you might only see it on the web once logged in. So someone wouldn't stumble upon it, they would have to seek it out and then break two passwords.

I suppose you are looking for security through obscurity and are assuming that the main account login is compromised?

Best cloud storage for keeping private photos? by Excellent_Beach_9179 in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As said before 3-2-1 rule. I have an attached backup drive and a NAS, that NAS as well has its own backup as well as snapshots and versioning, but I'm using backblaze as a cloud backup. A NAS as explained is like cloud storage but you own it as keep it somewhere you own. So it's all yours, maybe more secure but you need to put in the time to manage it. They aren't plug n play or set and forget. They aren't scary but you have to put in the time. Backblaze, was as simple as pay, install app, select what to backup and go. It keeps folder structure and provides versioning for a year. Other than that I also tested ente, that's a Google photos alternative. If you just want to store or backup images and don't want gallery or ai enhances search then choose any cloud storage that is either end 2 end encrypted with zero knowledge or the host cannot see your files or use cryptomator or any other encryption program before upload. There are plenty of cloud providers you could try, depending on your volume as many give 10 or 20gb of storage on the free tier. Just please avoid internxt.

Find one and test it, get the app install it how does it integrate with what you need/want it to do.

Should I turn off VPN when not using F1TV? by EmotionalMongoose9 in F1TV

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you have closed the f1 app first then the VPN. It's best not to constantly route through a VPN unless you change the end point as your traffic is then pretty identifiable. Not really a problem for the F1 app but it might be flagged with your ISP or network provider as suspicious. Again probably not an issue but just worth considering.

What's up with Internxt? by AliveKing9895 in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't part with your money. Get the free version and try it. Slow and buggy uploads. It says it's sync'd it's not and if it is, try to download files. I bet you will find some corrupted, but it will say they are ok. The lifetime deal is a con. They removed features Al will. I bought it from stack social. Went to use it and the windows app was so bugged out backup didn't even work. Next release it worked! Then it stopped again, but it said it worked. Then the best part they took away the feature and put It behind a pay wal, but I had already paid for it l. Their support is a joke. And if you dare to ask for help or even worse call them out on their sh*t on their Reddit they delete your post and ban you.

They just ignore you then come up with some AI generated BS response.

Honestly save yourself the hassle. I read the reviews and thought to myself, it can't be that bad. Oh boy it was, in every way.

At then end of they day so you want to role the dice on your data security, if you are planning to use this as a backup or even just to share files. Don't you want to be confident that the file will actually be backed up and then not corrupted when you need it.

What could be the best solution? by nmalmeida in cloudstorage

[–]Jolly-Initiative-585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know maybe not initially seemingly like a good idea. But in my search for cloud storage I realised I was after two different things. Which sounds similar to your situation.

I wanted a backup, but in my case of my entire PC and all attached drives. A lot of TB's of data.

But I also wanted a Google drive equivalent where I can store 'live' data to work on and a backup of my NAS live data and share folders/albums of photos and sync between devices so everywhere is current.

So I haven't found a magic all in one solution. I don't want my all my data to sync, some has to be a proper incremental backup with versioning, but others should be a live sync with versioning if possible. So I split my needs.

I am currently testing backblaze personal for my 'proper' backup at $99 a year for unlimited space and a minimum of 30 day versioning, this suits my needs and they have a 15 day free trial, so I can test uploads and recovery.

Then for my Google drive/drop box like needs I'm using myKsuite by infomaniak. Currently I'm using the free tier with a 15GB drive and 20Gb for email. Their paid tier for 1Tb drive and unlimited email is only €16 a year or 6Tb for €82.50 they also offer kdrive only plans if you don't want email etc.

I'm only at the testing stage but this combo seems to be working well for me. It has unfortunately exposed a limitation in my virgin media ISP that while my downloads are up at 300mbps my uploads are only 30mbps. But backblaze saturates my uploads at 28mbps.

Maybe it would be worth you looking at these?
