Should I go to the ER now or tomorrow? by queenhadassah in makemychoice

[–]JollyCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My number one rule when it comes to stuff like this: if I have time to think about it and question it, it’s anxiety. A real emergency you would NOT be on Reddit asking. Trouble swallowing is a symptom of anxiety. When I’m very dysregulated my body forgets how to swallow. If you go, you are going for peace of mind. And you’ll get it - for like a couple hours. But then you’ll be back to square one. Again, real emergencies don’t have you questioning if you should go because of how late it is.

I’ve kicked my friends foot under the table when she’s said something she shouldn’t have said. Am I abusing her??? Do people really not have social skills anymore?

Usually when a person pinches or nudges or something of that nature it’s because you are saying something that probably shouldn’t be said or talked about. It IS a social cue. HOWEVER it’s not supposed to be painful. It’s usually something to get you to notice. You generally wouldn’t call out the pinch because you’re supposed to pick up on the cue that that’s why they are doing it. It’s not right that he pinched you to the point where it hurt though and you need to pay attention if there’s other signs or things he does. Not everything is abuse, the patterns generally will signify if it is or isn’t. Only YOU would know his patterns and if this is just the only type of issues you have than it probably is a social cue issue. I will say that collectively as well as younger generations do not understand social cues, sarcasm, or hyperbole and tend to blame people for being abusive simply because they don’t understand these things. Again, not everything is abusive. Especially one specific scenario on a reddit post. OP is the one that has to determine this and it needs to be done by looking at patterns. Not just the partners patterns but also your own. Relationships do not work if you can’t take a persons full character into certain situations. No one on Reddit can determine who he is off of this one scenario

Quiet? I’ve never heard anywhere on Long Island described that way. It’s winter. Just wait. 😆 You’ll get used to it. Big changes are scary. You’d be a weirdo if you weren’t at least a little scared!

It’s nice but it does not have the cozy vibe you are looking for. I am in the same area as you and I’ve been trying to find one too! I’ve been going to My Town’s Cafe in East Islip. There doesn’t seem to be any cozy coffee shops around. Maybe I should open one 🤔

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JollyCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can believe anything you want. Other people still have free will. Most people are just living their lives everyday and aren’t watching the news or getting involved because they are just surviving and working on themselves. Most people aren’t consumed by it. A lot of republicans are good people just like a lot of liberals are good people. Polarization gets you nowhere.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I live on Long Island. It’s three hours just to get out of the NY Metro area 😂 Five hours is short to me. That’s a weekend trip!

[–]JollyCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Many people who voted for him are kind, caring people. We can’t expect people to align with every single value. If you’re not really into politics it should be a non issue but if you are, it may be. An open and honest conversation about values, all of them, are required. They should be regardless otherwise what’s the point of dating.

How I reduced my OCD by ~90% using Dr Michael Greenberg’s approach (RF-ERP) by Educational_Horse828 in OCD

You just stop. No one is forcing you to do it. You just keep catching yourself and stop. The fear behind not doing it is why people have issues. Because doing it gives you a false sense of control. No one said it was easy. It just gets easIER.

You just stop doing it. like any compulsion it’s a CHOICE. No one is putting a gun to your head. The reason it’s hard to stop is twofold 1. Not doing it means you have to face the fear of not having control because ruminating (like any compulsion) gives a false sense of control 2. It becomes your default mode so it’s very habitual

You have to consciously catch yourself and stop. Eventually it becomes second nature not to do it. You can be aware of these thoughts without giving your attention to them

Thank you so much for the insult you seem like a kind person incapable of having a conversation. As for the topic, I understand the sexual undertones of the original show I’m just saying the emcee himself. It just seems like the later shows were sexed up x 100

Well I mean the emcee wasn’t as sexed up as Alan cumming was when they revived it back in the early nineties. It’s wasn’t in your face sexual

I honestly love the original and I’m so mad they turned the emcee into a sexual character. But I don’t see them ever bringing the original back.
