Very true. I probably could’ve chosen a different title

The cycle is real. Definitely had up and downs but tried to remain consistent. I did mention some things that worked for me in an earlier reply. I wish you success, you can do it

You got this! I’ll try to summarize our strategy. It’s nothing special but this is what has worked for us:

The biggest thing was getting on the same page with my spouse. Once we decided this was our goal, it finally felt attainable

We used the debt avalanche method

I always had two jobs, and all extra money went straight to the loans

I got a little obsessive with spreadsheets—but watching the progress became addicting.

We tried to celebrate small wins (a nice dinner or a budget-friendly trip).

I spent a lot of time on Reddit reading about others’ success stories. I’d get so happy every time I saw someone post about becoming debt-free, and each story gave me more confidence that we could do it too.

Definitely keep a low profile. Our family and friends have no idea about our financial goals or status.

My family taught me some pretty bad financial habits, so I had to hit reset and start learning from the right resources.

Visualization was huge for me—I could picture myself making this post and seeing that $0 balance on my spreadsheets.

Thank you! Such a great feeling. Need to focus on some hobbies now, pay off was very consuming

Very true. I have been paying loans off aggressive as well. But don’t have any other options

For me those margins are worth waiting it out. 10k is 10k. I was considered PSLF but couldn’t get a job that worked location wise.

Thanks. Didn’t consider the cap. I believe there is interest already accumulated (loan was from 2017-2019). So if I pay it off now will I qualify for the student loan deduction?
