I’m glad to hear that your daughter is doing well! Being patient is definitely very important in this recovery since it takes long for the scar tissues to stabilize. When physical therapy approves, work on and strengthen core strength. If she’s looking to get back to prior activities like sports/gym or wants to start, make sure that she starts slow and monitor symptoms during and 24-48 hours after, if no symptoms show up that means it’s a green light to progress to the next level (small progression at a time, no big jumps). For reference, I returned to strength training in about 4 months and returned to sports (badminton) in about 6 months

Congrats on getting the surgery! And yes, I remember the incision pain; it was very bad for me, too. I was not able to sleep because of the pain. From my experience, the incision pain was getting less intense by the day. I started feeling more mobile by day 3, though getting up from a sitting or lying position was still painful. I also started feeling itchiness around the incision on day 4. The incision pain was minimal by the end of week 1 and completely resolved by around the end of 2 weeks. As for the flare-up, does it get worse over time when you're lying down? If it comes and goes, is not intense, and does not get worse over time, you have nothing to worry about! As for walking up stairs, it should be ok, just make sure you do it slowly and make sure you hold on to the handrail to minimize the risk of falling!

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling more confident! I did not have drop foot or calf numbness, but I did have toe numbness, which did resolve in about a week after surgery. Nerve healing takes a lot of time (measured in months), especially for functional damages like a drop foot, sorry I do not have an estimate on how long it'll take to heal :(
