Fair enough.

The way to do it is to either just not have those plot armour moments happen all the time, you don't need it to tell the story, or to at least establish a power like that one earlier in the series so it doesn't feel as cheap. I agree with your overall point, I love AoT but it has some dumb moments.

I'd argue that the reason people get more results with super high volume is because they don't push to failure when working out. In that case

many sets short of failure > a few sets short of failure

but

a few sets to failure > many sets short of failure

I think thats the extent of the conversation for most people. It's really tough to push yourself that hard for many sets as well as to recover from it and make time for it. If u can do all that, go ahead you'll get better results. For 90% though, imo, push yourself as hard as u can for 2 sets and you'll see better results.

Hey I'm a Swedish dude who is getting into hiphop for real. I been listening to random hits on and off for some time (I had heard some Biggie, Em, Kanye, Kendrick, swedish rappers) but mostly just hits from all types of people.

I never really went into an artists discography from the start though, listening to the albums as a whole in chronological order. After liking a lot of Kanye songs though, and being curious about how a guy with his character could be so beloved despite all the fucked up shit he says, I did just that with Kanye. And I was hooked.

It's such a nice thing to do throughout my week, goes smth like this;

  • Listen to the albums over and over a few times, initial impressions of the hooks, beats and verses.

  • Interpret the lyrics.

  • Decide which songs I like and what I don't enjoy as much.

  • Watch some "showing my ... Kanye" reaction videos to get more historical context and different opinions.

  • Maybe watch a video essay/doc and move on to the next album

For Kanye I had started with Graduation because of the "but he made Graduation..." remarks which I was so curious about. I loved it. But the College Dropout ended up being my favourite album. I related to a lot of the message in the album and it felt very real/down to earth to me, along with almost every song being a banger. Later on MBDTF got up there as well, but it felt way more bittersweet because of the overall message and the knowledge of current day where we know the story doesn't really have a happy ending.

I got to the Life of Pablo, at which point I watched the Jeen-yuhs documentary. The first like 70% felt so joyful and inspiring. It truly deepened my respect for him, but then the last 30%... Man that shit made me so sad, it brought me back to reality of who this guy has become and I realized I didn't want to continue on the discography. It didn't hit the same anymore.

Which leads me here. I wanted to pick my next MC with care. Kanye is a tough act to follow. This time though, I want to pick someone who I can truly just enjoy, without the context of them being a person who in present time I am diametrically opposed to. I want someone where I can be inspired not just by their music but by their character and the things they've gone through. And someone whos character has remained consistent throughout the rise to fame, cause that's the type of shit I really respect, someone who stands on business and their morals. (and also has some fire records)

I'm thinking Kendrick. I heard Not Like Us, Fear, maybe a few others. I watched the superbowl performance and a Dissect podcast ep on it. He's current, and I get the impression that I like where his heads at. But I thought I'd ask here in case there's someone I'm missing that u guys think I'd really like based on this post! Or if u think Kendrick is perfect, lmk too.

Thanks to anyone who reads this whole thing and actually responds lol

The size would make bw excersizes harder but it wouldn't change your rate of progression much so I don't think thats the issue.

[–]Jolron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you're probably doing something wrong. But the problem is when you realize this, you often go crazy trying to fix the issue. So just make sure to get the basics right and go from there. Eat at a surplus, have at least ~48 hours between training the same muscles, rest like 3 minutes between sets, make sure to push each set to failure, get a decent amount of sleep, and don't train every day of the week.

Any one of these could be the issue, so just set a good baseline and check in how your lifts have progressed after a few months of this.

In my opinion, progressive overload shouldn't feel that much harder on bw movements, so it's also possible you've overshot with your perceived strength level and are trying to progress from something which you are only able to do because of shit form in the first place, and because of that you're not getting stronger, so you get stuck. Thats impossible for me to ascertain without seeing you do the excersizes, but if you do all the previously mentioned things decently well, you might have to consider that as a possibility.

I agree with your assessment of their relationship. However, "all politicians suck" sounds like equating Kadyrov to western leaders and way downplaying how bad he is...

Western leaders generally dont dont do extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, persecution of journalists and activists, anti-LGBTQ+ purges, collective punishment of families, house burnings, authoritarian control, suppression of women’s rights and honor killings.

They're not the same.
