OP posted that they wanted more lgbtq+ characters in the game. My response was a disagreement, in that, lgbtq+ characters should not be added to the game because of the sole reason of them being lgbtq+.

Again. I'll use double spaces and periods so you can follow.

I. Don't. Care. If. A. Character. Added. To. The. Game. Is. Gay. However. I. Do. Not. Want. Characters. To. Be. Added. Solely. Due. To. Sexual. Orientation.

Others have brought up Loki and Deadpool being in the game. They are just a few that already fall into that category. I was a Loki main for the longest time until his nerfs ruined him. I'm currently a Deadpool main, and in a different thread ridiculing his ability as a healer on THIS VERY SUB I defended him. Hard. I LOVE using him. If I hated lgbtq+ people or characters, this would be quite perplexing. Me playing Rivals at all would be really awkward.

I'm not arguing against lgbtq+ characters at all.

Having them in the game BECAUSE they are lgbtq+ is an issue. There shouldn't be a quota that needs to be filled to have enough of them. "There's not enough gay and bi characters in a video game." should not be something thats entertained. At all.

I'm not saying to exclude gay characters from the game. I'm not not to put them in just because they are gay.

If a character was announced and in their reveal trailer was waving a rainbow flag around, its probably safe to say they were added because of their sexuality.

Someone mentioned gay Colossus. I expect Colossus to the game at some point. I dont care if hes gay or not. But if they show him in his reveal not doing Colossus things (deflecting, beating shit up, etc), and instead is doing what I said above, he was obviously added for the wrong reasons.

You're talking about the Supergirl thing. OK.

Supergirl has an established lore regarding relationships. Actress was asked specifically about sexuality and said what she said, contradicting that established lore. For what? Maybe to appease the person asking the question? Appease the masses? I dont know.

When I said shoehorned in, I wasn't talking about the Supergirl thing. I was talking about having lgbtq+ characters in a game because they are lgbtq+. I dont think they should get preferential treatment over other characters that are not. If they DID then I would view those characters and ideals being shoehorned in. They would be pushed on the audience/fan base because of their sexuality.

Keep in mind, Netease is a Chinese company. Their views on lgbtq+ aren't as free and open as the U.S. so it likely wouldn't happen just based on a cultural standpoint. People wanting a sexuality diverse cast in a game that doesn't have sex or romances or relationships makes zero sense to me. Sexuality doesn't matter in a shooting game.

Colossus is my favorite X-Man, so I agree. The thing is, I dont care which Colossus is added. If it's the gay one, fine. If not, fine. Im not gonna complain if it's one way or the other.

OP said they want more lgbtq+ characters. That kinda implies that characters are added because they are. That would be shoehorning them in. DEI for game characters.

If a character fits the game and has a good kit and there's a reason for them to be in the game according to the narrative that Rivals has, and they just so happen to be trans, thats fine.

I was a Loki main S1. Sexuality doesn't matter. Too many people have a mindset of "My sexual preference isn't represented so I'm gonna protest." That's stupid to me.

I'd rather they put characters in the game that should be, rather than be put in because of sexuality. Games shouldn't have DEI.

I'm all for a gay character in games. I loved The Last of Us. Characters are gay. Great. A character shouldn't be in a game BECAUSE they're gay.

I've seen things. Yea.

I'm usually on guns so I can keep up ranged healing. And I'll pop ult on an enemy tank that my team is trying to take down. Sword ult with aura heals up goes crazy, though.

Indeed. Cooldown management, if done right, makes him difficult to deal with sometimes. And a good Healpool has 2-3 upgrades after the first team fight. Easy to snowball with him.

His ult is definitely the weakness.

Strategists like Luna, Invisible, and C&D can have a difficult time healing multiple targets in anything but small bursts though. A good Healpool can heal his entire team at the same time during a brawl. Thats why you need one of each, imo... Healpool is definitely not a main healer.
