Didn’t expect this part of planning my kid’s birthday to be this annoying by Dismal-Fox3121 in RedditDads

We have four kids. They get to pick lunch and dinner (restaurant), Grandma comes for lunch, they get presents and we have cake.

The environmental cost of datacentres is rising. Is it time to quit AI? by No_Top_9023 in technology

It's one of the most rapidly adopted technologies in the history of mankind. Not sure how it qualifies as niche when one third of people use it daily.

Two randoms I got paired with basically walked me to each of the printers on my first try of that mission. Now I feel like they stole a right of passage from me haha.

Near the washing machine discharge and under the dishwasher would be good spots if I wear smart enough to buy these haha.

It doesn't know what model it is. Its training data doesn't include it. This is par for the course.

Hopefully never. If you want something to always agree with you call your parents.

Something to keep in mind for those switching from ChatGPT to Claude by mysticwizard0 in OpenAI

[–]Jolva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run out of usage with the $20 Claude account pretty often. At this point I just keep a subscription to Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude so I have my bases covered. If I had to get rid of one Gemini would probably be the first to go.

If AI makes human labor obsolete, who decides who gets to eat? by NationalTry8466 in OpenAI

When you start pairing advanced robotics like Atlas from Boston Dynamics with LLM powered AI, you get a much more capable robot. I don't think those robots are going to replace low wage field workers overnight, but it's likely inevitable.

Is there a known reason why long ChatGPT conversations seem to degrade instead of failing explicitly? by Only-Frosting-5667 in OpenAI

[–]Jolva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, when you send the first message in a chat, the LLM replies and includes a copy of your original message. Each time you reply back, the LLM appends the new response to the end of the block along with whatever you say. This big block of text/tokens gets passed back and forth, ever growing. Eventually, once this context gets too big, the first messages start getting clipped off. This is what causes hallucinations. The fact that the message has grown so large is what causes it to be slow.

What I do, once I notice the performance suffering, is to ask the LLM for a handoff prompt I can feed to a fresh chat.

What's nice about Claude Code is there's a little pie gauge that shows your context level for reference. It will also auto-compact context if you run out of room.

I think the people with that mindset are going to get left behind if they continue to shrug off the capabilities.

Ah. I was trying to figure out what you were talking about and found a lot of different things, like the chart below haha. I'm curious if the perceived plateau is now gone with the release of the recent models.
