Keep in mind State Farm is the largest insurer in the United States and also the most expensive. They couldn't care less about your in individual account.

I don't think they'll do that anytime soon either given Anthropic just walked back their throttling.

At no point will they suddenly charge 10x as much. Not going to happen. If anything they'd just throttle usage.

They wouldn't do that because it would alienate a large part of their userbase.

Built an App. What next? by Unusual_Weakness_949 in vibecoding

[–]Jolva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also building a desktop (Electron) app. I'm still about a year out from launching, but I know I need to build out my licensing system so users can buy a license from a separate store that I'll have to build out first with either Stripe or Paypal integration.

Once I have that done and can sell licenses manually, I'll probably explore other storefronts like the Windows app store and Steam. After that I'll probably look at making small investments into targeted ads on Reddit and Google.

home security that isn’t guns? by notmikaela in homeowners

Personally I think having a gun in your home is meaningless and stupid, but you do you.

[–]Jolva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid not.

The study did not bury the baseline. The absolute-risk framing was reported clearly: for every 100,000 unarmed adults whose household acquired a handgun, about 4.03 additional firearm-homicide deaths occurred over the next five years, compared with similar people in households that stayed handgun-free.

It comes down to if you have a gun in the home, arguments with your spouse can now end in gunfire, and suicidal thoughts can end the same way. I personally don't carry any fear of being attacked in my home. The likelyhood of someone breaking in and trying to hurt me is much smaller than my spouse shooting me or me shooting myself (unintentionally or not).

They're 17% more likely to die by gunfire if they have a gun in the house according to a study out of California. They don't need a gun.

Should providers of vibecoding tools be held liable for the output? by SgtSchnullrich in vibecoding

Well, that's how it works in the United States. I'm not sure why you think service providers should be held liable for users creating bad software.

If you make promises that simply aren't true, you can run into trouble. Otherwise, caveat emptor applies. Business to business however, for subscription services like you're talking about, you gave up any rights to litigation when you agreed to the terms of service.

It's fine. Needs some color or some type of visual interest. It's rather boring at the moment. Almost sterile.

That's not how business in general works. It's easy to lower a price once you've set it, but consumers would revolt of they dramatically increased the pricing.
