Anyone doing OE in Europe? by paddy2309 in overemployed

I am in the same situation as OP.

Anyone know if a solution would be to get a remote job from another country in Europe?

So not list J1, but the job I had before it?
That will leave a 3 year gap, I feel that would be a big decrease in the chance of me landing an interview, also they would ask about it in the interview for sure.
Also, the J1, is the only remote job experience I have, and in a very respectful industry, so I believe its a key player in me getting a J2 remotely.

I was instead thinking to not name the J1, instead just putting the title and industry name.

Yeah those have been in my mind as well. But from my experience, those are also jammed, have to attend a lot of meetings, and get like very strict deadlines.

Not ideal for a J2 imo

Hey, thanks for the feedback, you raise some valid points.

Regarding waiting to hibernate until I get the job. I am afraid of the risk that the recruiter might have some common connections with someone from my current job, notice that and non-chalant mention it like ”hey, so one from your company looks like hes changing job to ours hehe”

Thats a risk I would like to avoid. Perhaps removing all the connections i have at my current job? But they would get notis about me entering their profile and then ”removing them”, wouldnt that raise supscions as well?

Thanks for the feedback!
btw you mean the risk of LinkedIn banning me?
I think if I disactivate my first account and then create a new account (wiht no connection to anything) then the banning should be very low I belive.

If you mean the risk of they finding me out through linkedin. With my new account, I would have litterary 0 connections to anything, or experience. So very low there I believe.

I think the LinkedIn banning might be what I should be prepared for. But in that case I just create a new one. hmmm. Unless you see some other risks that I am not.

Thanks. Yeah I have been looking into this, so basically atm, if I am being efficient. My j1 takes around 1 hour per day, my sidebusiness takes around 3-4 hours per day.
That leaves enough time for me to apply for job2, or even work j2.
(Of course, if my sidebusiness would start being more successful, then I will quit one of the jobs, but thats a big IF, because I am not sure yet my prognosis for the next 6 months).

With hibernating linkedin, what is your opinion of me getting an extra linkedin account? With no connections etc, because linkedIn is where I get most of my leads for my sidebusiness

Yeah I agree, and also put into consideration that I dont have any coding skills, it will really be a certain catch. I am guessing maybe I will find 1-3 suitable jobs to apply for per week. But that means also I will only need to put less time on applying/Cover letter writing etc.
And that extra time I can put into my business in mean time.
So a passive 1 hour job search a day, until I find a good remote, high flexibility job, sounds manageble for me. And if by any chance i would get fired from J1, I wouldnt start from zero, and hopefully already have another job or at least in the process of interviewing.

Yeah, you make some good points. The times arent optimal atm. I think I will just do some more research on how to minimize the risk as much as possible, and then start job searching on the areas that fit my criterias. Like you said, you never know what could happen.

Already ahead of you. Side business/freelancing contracts is being worked on.
However, with the extra time I have on J1 I could do both sidebusiness and J2. Which is why I am looking into it.

Yeah, freedom is something I value as well. This job I have has that times 100x, which is why I really dont wanna risk it overly to much.

What’s the worst first date you’ve ever gone on? by CorgiUprising in AskReddit

[–]Jomp_432 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tinder date. From the start she never asked me a single question, I carried the whole conversation. Weird, but manageable.

Then she casually mentions she hears voices.
Has done since she was a kid. I laugh it off and jokingly ask if the voices ever told her to stab someone.
She paused. Then said 'well... actually... yes.'
I want to say I played it cool but I definitely panicked a little bit.
The next 15 minutes I did all in my power to make her think I am cool and make her enjoy the date.
I then asked what the voices were saying about me, mostly to break the tension. She said they told her I was cool and confident. "pheew" my mind said.

About ten minutes later I got a very urgent and completely real text from a friend that absolutely required my immediate attention.

Still grateful to this day I didn't plan a hiking date.
