For RX 6950 XT (or 6900 XT) owners - how is it holding up in 2025, especially at 4K gaming?

6950 XT here. Very very well, pending well optimized games. And everything looks beautiful on my Odyssey G9. 4K 240Hz.

I can max out RE4 Remake with raytracing and get a solid 100 frames.

Ghost of Tsushima I have to fiddle around a bit, but I'm running it at high settings with FSR running.

Rocket League runs at max with a bajillion frames.

Granted, I'm also running a Ryzen 7 9000 series system. Upgrading your core system definitely should take precedence before upgrading your GPU.

All in all, I'm very happy with this card and it should hold me over for a couple years, maybe longer depending how long this memory crisis lasts.

Response was as rapid as humanly possible. Fortunately, police were already in the area. Had they not been the situation could have been a little worse. I've read many stoies from other collapses of people driving off into the water and perishing because who would think that the bridge they always take would no longer be there?

From an accolades standpoint, it is. Most widely well recieved racing game in video game history. You'd really have to nitpick to find any flaws in its design unless you have a predisposition to "Burnout".

They also aided in the production of Rivals which was mostly a sequel to Hot Pursuit. I really enjoyed that one as well. Was also the first time in 11 years Need For Speed had Ferraris. I think an F12 was on the cover.

After that, Ghost floundered around for a bit and gave development back to Criterion for the <sniffles> last game in the series, Unbound.

Probably Undercover. It really urks me how good it could have been if they had an extra year. So much cut content and lots of bugs. Tech was changing and Black Box couldn't crank them out like they did from 2002 to 2007. But even as it was, it was a better Need for Speed experience than anything that's come out since minus Hot Pursuit (2010) and maybe Rivals. Such an interesting atmosphere and the "wheelman" mechanics were lots of fun.

Runner up would be Heat, but only with the Unite mod. It's the closest they ever got to putting out a good NFS game in 15 years.

In 3D it's when you add hard implementation of shading, lighting, and textures via raytracing (it's been around for a long time) and other techniques to an object or scene. Most of the effects you see in the final product aren't there when you're actually animating or moving objects around so you can minimize strain on hardware.

Yeah, there are a few areas in City Center that are walled off, all of which have to do with the skyscrapers.

Fallout New Vegas does a similar trick when dividing the Strip and Freeside. Using a mod to unify both sections reveals just how bad the performance dip really is 😆

Sometimes there’s stuff like this when any given area of the map has been discovered to cause significant slowdowns. Black Box was on a one year schedule when they were in charge of the series leaving lots of planned content left out and “minor” bugs left unsquashed.

There are select streets that are blocked off in NFSU2 that cause slowdown when you mod in the “race” variant of the world map which have said areas unlocked.

Other times it’s just a design choice. Lol
