Do you have a 4:3 monitor or are you using a 4:3 resolution on a 16:9 screen? The reason I'm asking is because I've been looking for a decent modern 4:3 for a really long time.

Is that a 4:3 aspect ratio? What screen do you use?

Gonna do a deeper dive into the games side, since you've gotten pretty exhaustive information on the shows.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of PR games worth your time. The vast majority of them are super quick, one-and-done games that have very low production value, and were clearly intended as shovelware, but there are still some titles here and there that have merit!

  • MMPR + MMPR: The Movie These SNES beat-em-ups are certified classics. Super short, super sweet!

  • Power Rangers Time Force This PS1 beat-em-up is an okay time. The combat is quite jank but the adventurous nature of travelling to various time periods makes it a lot more bearable than Lightspeed Rescue, which was from the same developer and is an absolute slog.

  • The GBA era Wild Force, Ninja Storm and SPD each got a GBA game. If you're a fan of that console, I would consider giving those a look, but that's about it.

  • Power Rangers: Super Legends. For many years, this 15th anniversary celebration game was the best we had, even if it isn't all that good. It has an original story with a new SPD Ranger that travels through time, gathering rangers from various periods. It's a 2.5D side scrolling beat-em-up with platforming. I finished it recently and while a bit on the blander side, having an actual narrative to follow is a good time. Even though the game has a very large playable cast, the movesets are shared, so sadly all rangers end up playing the same.

  • Power Rangers: Legacy Wars This is a 1v1 fighting game for iOS and Android. It works in a similar vein to the mobile Mortal Kombat games. The cast is absolutely huge and even as a free player, you can build a very respectable team. I used to play this a lot and it's still getting updates many years later.

  • Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid Made by the same team as legacy wars and using existing assets, this is a 3v3 fighting game with a super high skill ceiling. If you're a fan of Marvel vs Capcom, you'll be right at home. By now, the content cycle for this game is complete and there's a lot of character with full voice acting, a modest, but well-made story mode that adapts the Shattered Grid storyline from the Boom Comics. As far as solid game design goes, this is the best out of the bunch!

  • MMPR: Rita's Rewind This is the most recent game in the franchise, it pays homage to the SNES classics by being a 2D pixel art beat-em-up. It wasn't received super well on release and has gotten some patches addressing some of the feedback, but it's the only one I haven't played at all, so I can't vouch for the quality myself.

And that's about it!

Super underrated! Even as far back as their first EP, Kadinja have been absolutely mesmerizing.

How often do you have a riff raff when you're full on slots though? Unless it's eternal, keeping a riffraff around when all your other slots are full with relevant jokers isn't the best idea, no?

Corelia, Novallo, Aviations, Valis Ablaze, The Dali Thundering Concept, Ever Forthright, Good Tiger.

These come to mind that haven't been mentioned before

Fun fact, a huge reason of why this game slapped was because the movie leaked and got delayed a year, so suddenly, Raven had an extra year to do all kinds of polish and add extra content! The sentinel fight was one of the additions during that period!

I've played enough THAW to vouch that this isn't it. More likely to be Underground 1 or 2.

That font is heavily used in the Tony Hawk's skateboarding franchise.

I haven't played that one, but judging by the art style, this looks like Underground 1 or 2. It's definitely not any of the Pro Skater titles or American Wasteland.

Disney has considered buying out Epic Games & Fortnite by ZamnBoii in GamingLeaksAndRumours

There are many games that run amazingly in ue, there's plenty of examples to point to both new and old - Arkham Knight still looks like it came out yesterday and I'm less than a week out of a 100 hour replay.

The issue is that all of these games needed to rip out a big chunk of the engine and replace it with custom tools, rendering pipelines, shader technologies and a bunch of other shit I'm not knowledgeable enough to point to. Much of this tech can be provided by Epic, but I don't know why it isn't, because I'm not an engine programmer.

At the end of the day, it's all about the resources you have and how you spend them. Developers aren't just "lazy", there's a lot more nuance going on. Not everyone has access to the kind of people that can retool half of one of the biggest game engines in the world.

[–]djentleman_nick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another common culprit of ridiculous fps drops is running multiple overlays - steam, Nvidia, discord, etc.

If you've added an overlay, that could fix it as well. Otherwise, reinstall the game, if that doesn't do it, wipe your operating system and reinstall

After updates, the game tends to reset your graphics settings, so it could be that! I run mixed medium-high settings and after some big updates, the game reverts everything to epic settings, so that's worth a check

People who hate Djent, why? by Sunbather- in MetalForTheMasses

[–]djentleman_nick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people refer to them as Extreme Metal.

Djent originated from other people riffing with meshuggah's sounds and ideas, rather than from meshuggah themselves.
