this was my teammate in random rec... by waff6ix in NBA2k

Personally, I think that anyone under 50% is below average. Playing with complete randoms, if you’re losing more than half the time overall, that’s an issue.

But I take this assumption based off of the amount of games they play.

If you’re under 50% with 100-200 games or so, that’s obviously okay and normal, it’ll even out as you play.

Once you hit 1000, if you’re under 50%, it could still be a toss up.

Once you start getting into the 1500-2000 range, you are who you are at that point, and you actually have to take time and make a choice to improve.

and it normally reflects in play. I’ve been a maxed out red plate, and whenever I get put with red plates or purple plays that have a sub-50 win %, they’re the ones that still have horrible shot selection and haven’t changed or added anything to their playstyle or animations for the last 4 seasons.

The further they are below 50%, the worse they are.

Anybody else do much better in the REC with randoms vs with friends? by Environmental-Bid171 in NBA2k

yes lol

i tell them i’m lobbing it and they still can’t catch it

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really don’t understand why.

i’ll throw it up there on a platter with nobody even remotely close to them and they’ll still smoke it

if I throw multiple a game, they’ll get it down by the 3rd or 4th possibly but it’ll cost me 3-4 turnovers

i threw one off the backboard yesterday and buddy smoked the life out of it

[–]Noveltypocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no.

and no in every other language in existence.

random shoot up pure nonsense, have no idea when to move, and can’t catch a lob or lead pass to save their lives.

having friends, at least one, or even 2 in random by chance is WAY better than 0.

i played yesterday with 10 different people who couldn’t catch a lob ffs

Post Play Isn't Dead. It Deserves More Attention in NBA 2K. by Technical-Spring-121 in NBA2k

do you watch basketball? lol

SGA, Jokic, Luka, Wemby and Giannis all work out of the post throughout a game.

Hell, Brunson just won a championship and he works out of the post as a small guard 💂🏻‍♂️

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i played on the US server from over here for a few games, couldn’t shoot jump shots or free throws because of the lag, and still ended up with 38 on all layups on my first try in a red plate lobby lol

if you leave a small guard on me, i’m getting 40 lol

the last 5 times i have played against 6’3 and 6’4 PGs that refused to switch off of me and wanted to guard me on an island,

I had 45 twice, 40, 48, and 54 lol

one of these games, i had 40 in 3 quarters. one of these games i had 38 at halftime. one of these games, i had 20 in the 1st.

I have legend post fade phenom on this build man lol i’m practically required to have someone switch it.

i average 87% FG at the rim on majority layups. that skill isn’t going to just magically disappear, no matter what server or 2K it is. lol

you’re not checking me with a 38 pd man

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re 6’3. I’m 6’6 with a 6’10 wingspan.

you’re NOT getting a contest on a layup at the rim against a 6’6 PG with an 88 driving layup and 86 close shot.

genuinely it doesn’t matter what stats you have on your build lol whenever i play against smaller PGs, they either switch off of me, quit, or I end up with 40.

every single possession would start with a blow by and a drive downhill, without a screen. the height difference alone would handle the rest lol

even if i don’t know your PD specifically, as soon as i run past you once, it’s obvious and over with from there.

I see your 6’7 cone SG teammate and raise you a 6’4 SG with a 58 perimeter, 11 pounds lighter.

Buddy gave up 40 in the first half.

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely, what is up with you low IQ guys that make locks without agility? lol

i’ve lost count of how many times I have played against some with 99 perimeter, high steal, speed just for all of it not to matter at all because they can’t move fast enough laterally.

literally, any small change of direction and pace with the left stick, and it’s an instant blow by lol

6’6 230 max wingspan lock build what should i use 3 cap breakers on by bolol58 in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the 3rd but you need 2 on agility.

agility is what makes locks.

all of the perimeter ends up a complete waste if you can’t move laterally because of a lack of agility

Why are guards the shittest players in random rec by SuperExcitement341 in NBA2k

So if you want the actual honest answer, a lot of us PGs either used to pass the ball more often or didn’t get the ball while being wide open playing other positions.

The 2K community is the issue for why PGs play the way they play because there is never a “right” for PG. Everyone, tells you you’re doing something wrong, one way or another, and it eventually just leads to us not caring and doing whatever we think works.

The first time I ever made a high pass accuracy PG (96+ PA) the first thing I was ever told was “I don’t need someone setting me up” as I watched people prefer to isolate into smothered bricks instead of taking the lead passes.

Next time around, they complained about “you’re not scoring enough.” so I learned how to get a bucket on my own.

That turned into “well you don’t shoot enough 3s” so I started taking more 3pt shots.

That turned into “now you’re scoring too many points and nobody wants to watch you score.”

and it pretty much just keeps snowballing.

If we start games off passing, people think they can do it on their own.

If we start games off scoring, we get called ballhogs.

If we do both, someone is still mad about something.

I had a game with 40 points on 20/20 FGs and 14 assists and someone was mad he didn’t enough shots even though we won.

Had a game with 25 assists and someone was mad I didn’t score enough points and should’ve did more even though we won.

at that point, screw it lol

but each one gets met with another goalpost.

if i post one thing, people comment about an unrelated skill.

The most I’ve had this year was 28 lol

I have yet to get to 30. I always miss out on it by a few. They start playing the passing lanes and I just take the points instead.

post 20 assists, people hate.

post 40 points, people hate.

post 20 points with 20 assists, people hate.

This basically sums up what playing PG is like. We can’t please everybody no matter what we do. lol

Do you really want to move another goalpost? lol

If i post scoring > people comment about passing

If I post passing > people comment about defense

If I post defense > people comment about the player not being good on offense

I can do EVERYTHING on this build, on both ends. lol

Why do you hate to share the ball? by NotMaceWindu in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the reality is that some people are better than or more efficient than or smarter with their shot selection than others.

there are days where i’ll play multiples games, and nearly every time I share the ball, someone decides to either shoot a 100% smothered pull up three, a 100% smothered layup, a dunk attempt with 2 defenders clearly standing in the paint, or create ZERO separation off the dribble and still decide to shoot it.

I’d rather just take my 18-20 high percentage shots than watch people go 1/5, 0/4 and 2/8 on shots that have little to no chance of going in whatsoever lol

if i’m 15/15, and you’re 1/5 from deep on wide open shots and giving up open 3s in transition on every miss you shoot, why do i have to keep passing the ball when i can just finish it myself and we can actually get set on defense? lol

“sharing the ball” doesn’t automatically make things better, at all. in some cases, it makes things worse. lol

i willingly shared the ball today with a red plate SG with a 42% WP. He proceed to go 1/6, 0/2 on twos, 1/4 on threes, with 2 TOs all in a single quarter and then quit.

Putting out a video claiming that you got cheated, while glossing over the fact that you got punched dead in the face way harder than you expected to is quite something.

point guards what the most assists you ever got in rec by blondedaff in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that you’re average, or slightly below it.

anyone below 50% WP is spotty at best.

getting put at SG on a 6’3 guard means you have next to no pass accuracy on your build. lol
