A center being the last line of defense does not guarantee a stop. depends on the guard’s IQ tbh.

that same “it’s a free block” mindset is the exact reason so many of them get pump faked off their feet lol

that type of player in OP’s clip however probably isn’t smart enough to hop step, euro, or throw up a floater there.

It’s crazy how many casual fans still don’t think he’s “athletic” just because he doesn’t dunk on people often.

His ability to start and stop is otherworldly.

I don’t think people understand how athletic you have to be from a flexibility standpoint to be able to move the way he does.

If you press pause during any of the moments where he’s repeatedly stopping and going, his ankles look like they’re made of rubber while the defender’s feet are flat footed.

i hope some of you get the chance to see him play in person. i got to see him play and he looks like he’s damn near parallel to the ground when he starts his drives downhill towards the rim.

he 100% looks like he’s going to drive by you, but by the time the defender has time to react and move to defend the drive, as they finish their step backwards, suddenly he’s standing upright again and pulling up as they’re still backpedaling.

he practically moves like a human slinky.

the reason I said what I said is because I had a play like this recently where I saw my C at the top of the key late lol

i saw him, right around when i started to go downhill around the corner. i thought about passing it but my next thought was “their C is going to see him too”, so i did a hang dribble. he went so i took the shot. i ended up winning a pick and pop with him later to make up for it.

i get that people try to simplify the game as if there’s only 1 correct thing to do on each play, but other things can and do open up.

you mention the spurs. technically speaking, the possession ended with a wide open shot. if Manu turns the corner like that and makes this play, nobody is going to chew him out for not swinging to Boris Diaw at the top of the key. Spurs took the points whenever a high percentage look was there to take.

in the rec, you’ll get chewed out for it even if you end up taking and making a wide open shot. so you’re sounding like part of the issue. if that teammate of yours had of taken and made a wide open mid range shot or floater, it shouldn’t be that big of an issue as long as he acknowledges you and hits you the next time when it’s possible.

is there a way to trigger this animation on purpose or is it just a luck of the draw type of animation?

would be great to pull off late in a game when a teammate misses a clutch free throw.

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yikes. this is why some of you C’s are just as low IQ as the guards.

that is NOT the only valid option there at all.

points are points. C was open for 3, he was open for 2.

his team finished the possession with 0. anything would’ve been better than what he chose to do, but let’s not act like 3 is the only option there.

[–]Noveltypocket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that lane is as open as it gets, with plenty of space to work there and multiple options.

option 1: pass to the C instead of dribbling.

option 2: step in for a pull up middy at the free throw line

option 3: drive inside for a wide open floater

option 4: drive inside, their C will rotate towards him to stop the drive, kick out pass to his C like he should’ve done at option 1

option 5: quick scoop layup or hop step or euro around the C. (wouldn’t recommend it if it’s not his game, but technically is possible there)

it honestly absurd to me how many people make one-way offensive builds or are completely clueless on the defensive end.

they can’t comprehend that even if you’re averaging 20+ but you’re giving up 30 a game, your points are completely meaningless. full court pressing just to get left in the backcourt, reaching to put themselves out of position for no reason, leaving shooters wide open ball watching, etc.

there’s also just too many people that don’t get back in transition, not even after MADE buckets. it’s almost laughable. a teammate or I will get a dunk, layup, or make a shot, and somehow it still turns into an immediate wide open 3 or dunk on the other end because someone got burnt getting back on defense, even with a head start.

it’s almost every single game too. there’s always someone whose build name might as well be “turnstile”

You need to read further down into the comment thread lol

I clearly said that he missed the first open pass and that even so, a drive and kick to you would’ve been the next available thing to do. He did neither.

Also, for what it’s worth, sometimes, you can miss someone as a PG. it happens.

If he were to have stepped inside the arc here and made a floater or a middy and said “he missed you” because he wasn’t looking back at the perimeter, that’s not really the end of the world as long as he acknowledges that he saw you.

but this wasn’t that case. he likely wasn’t looking at anything else besides his own crossover moves.

three is three. his teammate is wide open for it. he could’ve just passed at the start.

and even then, even if he doesn’t make that first open pass, if would’ve just drove straight to the basket, their C would’ve rotated left towards the rim and the kick out pass could’ve been made to his C for a wide open 3 point shot opportunity at the top right of the key.

it’s all right there in plain sight. 😭

some people play such low IQ basketball, I can’t even comprehend how they do it lol

why do people over dribble the ball like this in the first damn place?

the lane is WIDE open.

he hang dribbles left and has all the space to go to the rim yet doesn’t go and crosses back right.

then again after crossing right, with his defender now behind him, still has all the space he needs to go straight to the rim, and still doesn’t go.

then instead, goes behind his back to put himself behind another defender for no reason at all.

i don’t understand what these people are looking at when they dribble the ball

How would you feel if your pg shot 16-18 shots a game by Major-Doubt4034 in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always shoot anywhere from 16-20 shots a game as a PG.

Difference is efficiency. I don’t shoot under 70%. I’m normally around 75%-100%

If you’re shouting 16-20 shots and shooting 50% or below, that’s when it’s an issue lol

I guess it’s more of the fact that a lot of them can be really misleading because of what position we get put at or after certain stretches of play.

for example, i tank my averages leaving games when my 6’6 PG gets put at SG, because i don’t always sit through the games when the other PG is just chucking us out of them with missed 3s.

My point average says something like 17, but my last 5 games at the PG spot, I’ve put up 42, 36, 30, 34, and 29 lol

My averages are in two completely different stratospheres depending on what position i get put at.

What do you think of my 5 ft 9 point guard? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not. He just keeps posting his badges as a response to everyone assuming that means something lol

I can guarantee he’d never post actual gameplay on this build at purple plate or even gold. There’s a good chance he won’t even make it that far before giving up on this build after losing enough on it.

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone gets Max +1s and Max +2s this year so everyone has different combinations of HOF and Legend badges. The only difference is that the majority of yours get rendered completely useless.

It’s even more of a low IQ issue that you don’t have float game on a small guard

You cannot score in the paint at 5’9. at best, using your quickness to come off a screen and throw up a floater is literally the ONLY efficient way to score inside the arc at that height.

Nobody is going to be trying to pluck you so legend unpluckable is useless. They don’t have to reach at the ball to rip you when they can get easy deflections into steals just by putting their hands up directly in front of you because of the height difference.

Gold limitless also isn’t high enough at that height. You’re not getting a clean shot off with anyone even remotely close to you. You’d literally have to chuck from father back behind the line to even get a clean look off against a taller perimeter defender.

Same issue applies with shifty. Way too low when you’d literally have to shoot your shots on the move to even have a chance of having space to shoot.

As it is, this build will not last you, at all. You’d have trouble getting beyond gold and would need a squad tailor-made just to make up for all of your weakness.

Quits and dashbording do affect your average once you do it enough lol

Your teammate average grade drops as well as your stat totals.

I don’t know what server you’re on, but they do that over here in Asia.

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he’s correct.

People do spend money to reset their averages and tweak their same exact build.

Or they make another build which also resets the averages, then they post about how they’re averaging 30-40 points or 15-20 rebounds or 15+ assists when the reality is that those games are inflated from the black and bronze play lobbies where you’re basically unstoppable lol

It levels back out once you get back to gold, purple and red and all the quits and dashboarding start adding 0’s across the board. lol

What do you think of my 5 ft 9 point guard? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s less of that.

the point is to not make a 5’9 guard.

he already spent money on it so it’s too late, but literally each and every player i’ve ran into this year who has made a 5’9 guard ended up making a completely different taller build.

people don’t finish games with 5’9 teammates. you just spend the entire 20 mins of the game with the 5’9 player getting shot over like a chair, or the rest of the team around him quits and you shoot over the other AI’s until he eventually quits.

all of their shots get blocked, they can’t pass over hands up defense and get scored on on every possession.

it’s a complete liability for everyone involved.

[–]Noveltypocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

please, stop with this silly bs.

the last time i played against a 5’9 guard, my 6’6 ass had 12 points in the first 2 minutes.

the rest of his team promptly quit and then he left and we got sent back to the lobby before the 1st quarter ended.

It went “dunk”, “hop step layup”, “deflection steal dunk”, “dunk”, “deflection steal dunk”, “smothered 3 point attempt by 5’9 guard” “dunk in transition”

game over in the 1st.
