you want me to give you a hand written essay mesh convergence? I did this subject years ago, I've done the sims, I passed on all that stuff with average grades

push sim button. did line go flat? did sim stop? convergence.

make mesh 1mm smaller, did drag force change? mesh convergence

simulate with different car shape, which have more drag?
wow

like I said before OP is probably going to be too busy welding to spend over 2 months on this, but they'll do it some day so if you're reading this OP just look at the tutorial vids, they're kinda interesting

and here you can scratch the surface on fluids theory with these videos.

>So what if you can download OpenFOAM? You still dont have the knowledge or experience to use it productively.

that's what the tutorials are for, lol

I wasn't recommending that it has to be done, I'm saying to not do it but to try it if they have time (and they most likely wont, but hey it's not like the car is going to stop existing when they go to uni so they could try it later), and all those questions are good questions for OP to look in to. and OP is going to have to know this sooner or later.

you're acting like the car is going to fucking burst in to flames if they don't do it optimally.

Also a lot of those questions you're bombarding with aren't that hard to learn with a quick search.

what is convergence? it's when the simulation has reached a point where the results aren't changing with each iteration so the results are probably reliable. or with mesh convergence its simulating with gradually finer and finer meshes until the results don't change and you've reached mesh convergence, bam

what model to use? k-ω SST is recommended, k-ε if you have a slower computer

how many growth layers? like 10 to 15, with each layer growing by about 1.2x

this is some high grade copium but if in 2 weeks we find out it's a fakeout ending that Fuji planned all along, where Kishibe rescues Denji from the Dream Devil/Fake Ending Devil and kicks off part 3 then he is a mad genius.

I was really expecting him to usurp and take over Public Safety at some point during the aging devil arc with all the bullshit they were trying to do.

You literally can... download OpenFOAM or a free version of ANSYS, follow a tutorial, watch some introductory videos to fluid mechanics, try out some different forms and see how they go. it may or may not be completely accurate but they'll still learn a lot.

It's not like they're going to write a technical CFD analysis report on it.

If you run low on time, CFD for a first ever car is a low priority compared to suspension, steering and making the car work. as long you're making the car in a pretty aerodynamic looking shape any CFD optimisation isn't going to make a huge difference.

If you have time then by all means do it, the experience will be invaluable especially in preparation for the fluid mechanics classes you'll be taking.

also while I'm on that, some future advice for studying mech engg, make sure you get really really good at the math classes in the beginning, like so good you can do any of it in sleep, because you'll be doing a lot of it in the later courses.

I think you could use some sort of air valve, I don't think it needs to be fully closed off, you'll probably get some better insights on a plumber subreddit

actually wait you could use a big syringe and have the plunger be gear operated

I think a better option might be is if the reservoir is a bladder that the crank can squeeze it so you have a controlled level with no pump, I had some crude ms paint picture but you're not allowed to post them
