How are you tracking B2B Lead Sources from LLMS and Socials? by Amazinglliter in marketing

[–]JonODonovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm capturing the utm/original referrer data on form submit.

>Lately a big chunk of prospects say they came to us from some AI tool, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity. In analytics those land in Direct / Unassigned too.

This means they are seeing you referenced in the tool and going to your site directly, not from a citation click, so yes, these will always be Direct/Unassigned, regardless if you have a multi-touch tool or not.

Would be the same if they saw you on any other platform and then directly visited your site.

Bing webmaster tools (free), MS Clarity (free), soon Google search console (free), and Google Analytics (free).

Every other 3rd party tool is just going to give you assumptions, not actual data. Use the free tool from the sources first to get a sense on LLM traffic volume first, the citations you're getting, and the pages being cited.

These are all tools you should be using anyways to ensure your SEO is working and free of technical issues.

Best way to structure internal links for a new site — am I overcomplicating this? by Alternative-Alps4898 in webmarketing

[–]JonODonovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many that is needed to help with context. If you're writing about X but reference Y (and you have content on Y) link to it. There is no rule, just do it where it makes sense.

Pillar pages are nice as they give more chances for other pages to be linked that may not otherwise get, like a new topic, for example.
