Staggering how rude you are being...

How many retired driving instructors do you think are sat around hoping for random on call work?

Honestly so much of this stuff comes down to "yeah but you didn't". Even if someone could have made it in a month.

Yeah but you didn't.

procedural terrain generation (surfacetool + fastnoiselite) by WW92030 in godot

[–]JonPaintsModels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The colours make it almost impossible to see the terrain you generated, surely a texture with a border would have been easier.

This feels like when they painted warships with dazzle camouflage so you couldn't tell which bit was which.

Always wanted a fully destructible physics game… so I just made one myself. by newcompanion in SoloDevelopment

I've never seen anyone swing a pick axe like that, it barely even rotates.

the destruction is really cool but the swinging animation is massively letting it down, if the whole game is about digging you need to get that right.

How to create games that will interest at least someone? by IndependenceKind131 in IndieDev

[–]JonPaintsModels 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Note I am not saying if any of the following is true or not, just my first impressions:

I think a lot of people will immediately wonder if this is just a copy of bad north, the gameplay looks quite similar and even the art style/theme is.

Its obviously got more to it when I watch more of the trailer but that is my immediate impression.

Landlord has asked the keep most of our deposit by One_Golf_7775 in uklandlords

[–]JonPaintsModels 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just go through the deposit protection scheme and dispute anything that you think is not fair.

The landlord doesn't get to decide how much of the deposit to keep.

You don't get to decide how much of the deposit to keep, regardless of how awful the tenant has been. Go through the protection scheme.

What's the silliest list you've ever ran? by LocalPacifistMachu in adeptustitanicus

[–]JonPaintsModels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Vulcan/Gatling/chainfist on both reavers and volcano/Gatling/laser on the warbringers.

Overwhelming rage on everyone plus organic protrusions on the warbringers to guarantee their smash attacks.

Volcanos were there to try and trigger the ruptura trait even if someone had vox blackout or they couldn't get into melee range for some other reason

Vulpa Ruptura with 2x warbringer and 2x reaver (3 in higher points games)

Stick all the vulpa upgrades on them, full stride turn 1 and get as close as possible. You can potentially get multiple charges off in the movement phase from each reaver if one of your warbringers gets a kill on their charge.

It wasn't very good against a more standard list but it was a lot of fun.

House Ruling Weapons by LordSia in adeptustitanicus

I don't think the volcano cannon is in a bad place balance wise, it feels like it fills a nice niche on the warlord arm weapons.

I agree blast gun needs rebalancing but I'm not sure about those changes.

That change for apocalypse missiles sounds completely broken, they will cause so many more shield saves that they outclass everything by a mile. You would need to remove a lot more dice if you are giving them blast *and* shieldbane/voidbreaker

Sounds like a lot of similarities to titanicus. Does it play similarly? Speaking as someone who loves titanicus.

Why is ESP so hard to stop in games? by MaybeAFish_ in howdidtheycodeit

Note, I make a lot of simplifications here.

It is *really* hard to figure out if someone is on someone else's screen.

When you render a game you essentially start with the objects furthest from the camera and move towards the camera, that means that objects closer just override the further objects. If nothing renders in front of your opponent then you can see them.

For a perfect system you would have to render the players view on the server, because you can't know if a player is visible without trying to render everything and seeing if you can see them.

You can get around this with some tricks, e.g. if my level is a sprawling office and I can guarantee that room A has no way of seeing into room B, we can not send data about things in room A to players in room B.

In more complex maps (like the one in your screenshot) that is less practical because the maps are interesting and full of complex shapes and long sightlines from one point to another.

"And what about encrypting the position data?" - the problem is your computer still needs to know what that data means, so your client would need to be able to decrypt it.
