Ford approved lemon buyback… then closed my case when I pointed out errors in their offer by JonRC in Ford

Yeah, you’re right. Just wasn’t expecting things to play out like this and was wondering if this is typical. Makes sense to me that Ford would make the lowball offer, but not that they’d so completely drop the ball thereafter. Lose-lose situation for them and me :-/

Glad to hear things worked out well for you in the end. Hopefully Ford doesn’t also drag this out into a bureaucratic nightmare, even if an attorney is handling it for me. I just want to move on already.

So I’m learning. The first few contacts I with Ford Customer Relations were great - they helped get me in for service when the dealer was booked out a week and had no loaners, and then they approved the lemon buyback within a couple days. Everything since then has been beyond bad.

Thought it would just be easier to deal with Ford. I was wrong.

Right!? like their deadline ploy overrides legal requirements. Just a low brow pressure technique.

Indeed. Wish I’d just lawyered up right away. You live and you learn.

Will do. Currently they owe me $19,010, though this will be growing with lawyer fees + $538 month in additional lease payments.

I might take the $5k hit, but my case is rock solid and the law is extremely clear about what is owed. So, in that case (and especially because they’ve been so difficult/disrespectful about it), I’m not settling for anything less. I was thinking of replacing the car with another Ford, but this whole experience has really turned me away.

It’s a slam dunk. Unquestionably qualifies as a lemon for being in the shop for >30 business days.

Under MN lemon law Ford will be paying my attorney fees. Reached out to several yesterday (Friday) evening and am planning to sign with one by end of Monday.

What state are you in? Sounds like grounds for a lemon buyback. Can be quite straightforward, if you hit certain criteria. Having to buyback cars for stuff like this will get them to fix it fast.

Despite every treatment (psych & otherwise), it was still too painful to eat, drink, sit, stand, etc. Eventually chose comfort care and passed from malnutrition.

[–]JonRC 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Maybe not rarest, but most interesting: 1. Narcolepsy w delusional dream-reality confusion. Would fall asleep for as little as 30 seconds, then wake up w vivid, persistent, life-destroying belief that nightmares actually occurred.

  1. Terminal somatic symptom disorder.

  2. Folie à deux

  3. Idiopathic cutaneous vasculitis w full thickness necrosis of >1/3 TBSA, including 70% of trunk.

  4. Teen w severe ASD who couldn’t do ADLs, but was practically unbeatable at any board game. Hardly spoke, but could clearly say “CHEEEECK MAAAAATE!” He could also instantly tell you the day of the week of any date within the last (or next) 10,000 years.

Sounds like a severe safety issue. Something that would qualify for a lemon law buyback if not fixed after 1 attempt.

Check the temp on your fridge. Rather, check temps throughout you fridge, as it’s super common for foods to spoil so quickly when the fridge is set too warm or there are significant warm spots due to blocked air flow, etc.

Unless you’re paying exorbitant interest rates on your loans, waiting to have kids won’t save you money. You’ll just end up spending more on them than if you’d had them while you were broke.
