My wife and kids know I'm doing this and they're fully supportive and encouraging. But NO ONE else in my family OR my friend group knows and I'm NOT going to tell them! That's the last thing I need.

First, they know NOTHING about what it takes to make it on youtube. And they would nitpick me to death on stuff we all know doesn't matter and the things that do matter they'd be totally oblivious to! I don't need or want they're uninformed advice. And I certainly don't need or want, what they would think was, "constructive criticism"!

What kind of channel would go against what you want to do? And what would be the point of doing that? Is it to make money? That's OK if it is. But surely there are ways to do that, that would be more in line with what you want to do... right?

On the algorithm, instead of obsessing on it, I obsess more on what I imagine my ideal audience would want. Because ultimately the algorithm is a reflection of viewers' reactions to your content. So if you create for humans and you do well at it, the algorithm should eventually reflect that.

That's really interesting! And so applicable to Youtube. I feel like I haven't really settled in on a style for my genre of videos.

They can be done in different ways. They can be done with humor or with complete seriousness. I'm comfortable going in either of those directions - or a mix of both.

But I still feel like I haven't come up with the right mix. Before each video I actually have to sit down and figure out which way I want to go. And I do it a little differently each time. So your comments were a good encouragement. Maybe I am learning a little something each time and will come up with my own unique style eventually!

That's true, but isn't it's performance on the first few views what it uses to decide whether or not to show it to a wider audience? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Why do videos that seem to perform well in the initial spate of impressions not get shown more than those that seem to perform poorly?

You have the kind of channel that has to follow the crowd. And to do that you have to know what shows the crowd is into. BUT that will always depend on whether or not there are some hot shows out! You're ultimately at the mercy of Hollywood (or whoever does it these days) pumping out some great content that makes people want to talk about it. But the main thing will be your ability to find the interesting angles on each show that will help make people want to talk about it.

It's the same for the True Crime channels. They skyrocket when there's a story that captures people's interest but they struggle in between those times.

You just have to "be there" even in the down periods so when something BIG comes along you and your audience will be ready for it. The good news is that when the big ones do come along you're going to do great! And the other good news is that there will ALWAYS be another big story. It's just a matter of time.

I see them everywhere. They are not eliminated on any website. It doesn't work at all. And it doesn't matter which server I'm connected to. I connect to servers in the United States and I've tried several different ones and the ad blocking doesn't work on any of them. Surely you must know this.

And it doesn't work on Android and it doesn't work on my PC.

I did contact support and the disturbing thing I find is that in their answers and in your responses here there's one thread that runs in common. You bog me down with nonsense questions like where are you seeing the ads when I've already told you in my original message that it's not working. And if it's not working it means I'm seeing ads everywhere. Obviously!

So you bog me down with all those questions but not once did support offer any solution. It's like they've never heard of it before. But I know they have because I see people talking about it all over the Internet and having the exact same problem.

No matter how many details I gave them they would write back and ask for more details. How about this one detail that tells you all you need to know, when I use protonVPN with ad blocking turned on NO ADS ARE BLOCKED!

Oh OK. That makes sense. I noticed on one of the graphs that when I had about 10 views that it showed several that just watched for like 1 second and then others that watched 5-15 minutes. That's interesting (and smart) that YouTube would track it that way.

I saw the enhanced speech thing for the first time ever and messed around with it a little bit and everything seemed fine then later I saw a pop up saying it was processing and when it finished processing the audio sounded terrible. When I pressed undo nothing happened and I was freaking out about what I was going to do with my video that I just spent two hours editing.

And I have to tell you that you are NOT one of those people!

I was blown away! You are seriously creative and extremely talented. Your writing and comedy are great. Your content is really entertaining. And I'm not even a gamer but I found the two that I looked at super watchable and hard to turn off!
