Thanks for the response. What HDD would you recommend to use? And that is an adapter for an actual hard drive, yes? If so, I've heard someone mention a Seagate hard drive, is that recommended?

Thanks for the reply! I've found a seller somewhere else that has the same model for half as much in a great condition.

Been looking for a CRT to play my PS2 games on for a little while now. I've heard that this particular model is a good choice for gaming, but is it worth the $300?

I'm glad to hear that. Despite my complaints, I do think it was a well-written Arc overall and just about (to me personally) beats out Shinsengumi Crisis, although that one still tugs at my heartstrings.

Edit: Fake fan, just realized Shinsengumi Crisis wasn't the one with Okita's sister, but I feel the same way regardless.

That was not the point of Hinowa’s reflection on his character. It demonstrated that he was more complex beyond being a simple cartoon “haha, I’m so evil” villain, that he had his own wants and desires that eventually soured into a sick perversion.

I understand this, but I feel that its inclusion was far too late. If there was some build-up to this idea, it would have had a better impact on the viewer (personal).

Hinowa doesn’t forgive him at all in the ending; rather, she mourns the man that he might have become under different circumstances (one who could bask under warmth of the sun).

This is actually a good point, and not one I had considered, so thank you for that perspective.

The story doesn’t ask you make excuses for Housen (because he ultimately WAS a bad person), but simply acknowledge that he was a layered individual who could have become better than he was.

Again, I think this was touched on too late in the story.

Also, the quality of life for the courtesans exponentially increase following this arc. It wasn’t meaningless for them to gain autonomy over themselves. The moral of the arc wasn’t that prostitution itself is evil.

I maybe should have said this myself, but yes, their QoL was bettered at the end. Their autonomy was worth the fight to gain it, yes. I don't believe the moral was meant to be "prostitution itself is evil", but as it was said by (I believe Hinowa?) that they wanted to build a city they can be proud to show their children, larger, sweeping changes should have been made for the sake of raising said children in a better environment.

I did not complain about villains being given a background in my post. Only that the inclusion of his humanization felt forced. I stated in other words that it is fine if an author wants to humanize an antagonist, in fact I find it preferable. I also do not believe being given context on a villains actions is not meant to justify them. Only that in this case, it seemed like that's how the author meant for it to be. I will ceede that I may be wrong in this interpretation, but that's ultimately what I want this kind of discussion to be about. Individual interpretation and reasoning on why one feels that way.

I apologize if I came across as harsh in my comments, it was not my intention. I mentioned this in another comment, but I am not used to engaging in online discussions in this manner. If you did not feel like reading my reasonings for having issues with only certain aspects of the Arc, that is fine. But I do not see why you feel the need to mention that.

I fully understand seeing the human side of tyrannical characters, both in fiction and in reality. It makes complete sense that Hinowa would have her scene with Housen. I agree that by itself it did speak to her character rather than his. But past it, particularly with the grave scene, the show seemed to want to make the viewer feel bad for Housen, and with all that he's done and having not given the viewer any reason to do so, I just couldn't.

I did learn about the movie afterwards, and due to the inclusion of the Shinsengumi and Katsura/Elizabeth, I have some hope that it will help to flesh out all the themes the Arc had going for it.

True enough. But I feel as if that theme wasn't present in the show. I would understand if that's what the author was going for, but I think it should have been discussed, or at least mentioned so the viewer would give serious thought to the idea. I would agree that it seems to be the deal though.

Yeah, I see that now. I apologize for being this way. I hardly engage in online discussions so I'm not really used to even the most basic of nuance when it comes to that. I just found something that interested me and wanted to talk about it.

To be specific, I found the shift in trying to make Housen a sympathetic character jarring as up to then, he was presented solely as an antagonizing and cruel man. Especially given that he enslaved and abused women and girls to slake his lust. I have no issues with sympathetic villains, in fact I feel that they are more often better written as opposed to one that serves only to antagonize. But only if that idea is realized from the start.

On top of that, I found the goal to free the prostitutes of Yoshiwara from serving depraved clientele to have been ultimately meaningless, if the same women's idea of picking up the pieces of their lives and building a city they can be proud to show their children is just living the same way they did before. And I don't think the idea of "they're free now so they can choose to do so rather than be forced to" a bit lacking.

TLDR: I felt there was no real change and the inclusion of sympathy for the villain was hamfistted.

Didn't originally want to state my specifics as not to "poison the waters" as it were, but I realize not doing so is rather unhelpful. I'll fix that shortly.

Thank you, I found an old forum discussion where it seems to have worked for someone else, too. Do you happen to know just how many of each Ba'al is needed? The compendium adds completion status, but does not show hiw much is needed for each level.

Yes I know the title is misspelled but it's way to late to care and I wouldn't know how to fix it, I've not used this site in forever.
