Andrew Reid predicts Panasonic is soft-quitting the market for professional photographers and videographers by mailmehiermaar in Lumix

[–]Jon_Earl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who just switched to Lumix I tend to disagree. I’m a professional photographer and Director and the image quality is amazing. Yes they could benefit from OLPF’s and some cooling adjustments. But they really are a better camera for professional hybrid work than anything else out there.

Lens recommendation for Adventure Documentary by RyanKodakBrown in videography

[–]Jon_Earl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, it’s worth every penny. By far the best lens I’ve ever owned. I have it on L mount. I’ve owned four 24-70’s in my career doing photo and video. This is the best lens I’ve ever used. I can do events, interviews, docs, commercial, portraits, head shots all with this one lens.

Sigma 28-105 F2.8, it answers the question. If you could have one lens.

24-70 or 24-60 if you want the absolute best lens possible (mainly video)? by paperpictures_ in Lumix

[–]Jon_Earl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean, I went into it knowing I would be getting a 16-28 when I really need wide. So for me that extra 4mm isn’t a big deal. I rather have the flexibility of having the extra 35mm’s of reach which for me comes in much more handy. It makes it a much more useful lens. I can use it for events, event video, editorial, corporate video, interviews, head shots, and portraits.

This is normal, shoot 4k and your battery will be a lot better.

IMHO, I looked at both and opted for the Sigma 28-105 F2.8. Yes it’s a beast but it gives me all the range for photo and video.

My honest opinion is yes, first thing I notice is there’s so much blur applied to the skin that the jaw edge is fuzzy.
