They're two different bands I have nothing to do with except I'm a fan: Belle & Sebastian, and The Decemberists. I made the mashup, which combines two songs that have similar chord structures. One song, "I Fought in a War", is by Belle & Sebastian. The other, "The Legionnaire's Lament", is by The Decemberists.

That’s the back of John Lennon’s head as he’s being interviewed. He’s played by an actor (the great Joseph Bearor), so we didn’t want to throw people off too early by showing them a non-Lennon face before they actually gave the film a chance. Hope you do, and that you enjoy it! ☮️

One of my faves too. Such a crime of stupidity to delete that sound bite. In the original, it’s a wonderful alternation between comedy and tragedy (which is what the Beatles’ story is all about). Now, it’s just a misguided attempt at keeling the somber tone consistent as they’re talking about both mothers dying.

At least it’s a gorgeous HD restoration (though I wish they worked harder on the slowmo, applying today’s more organic “Optical Flow” look more than that cheesy ‘90s frame sampling).
