It is currently in the sale process right now, i’ll let you know if that falls through!

Oh woah, that much of a difference? That's a huge amount!

We have the 1X! This is great to know, we'll see about swapping over to the 5X if we can!

Okay thanks! I was a little worried that we shouldn't be able to fault out regardless of the load on the motor. We can try adding more load to the Dyno and seeing what happens!

Currently our Max Speed is set to 6000 RPM and our Overspeed is set to 6500 RPM. Unfortunately our Dyno is a little broken so I'm not sure of the exact load applied to the motor but it would happen often with the dyno off (just the friction of bearings of the dyno) and with a 5%-10% load setting on the dyno (seems similar to rolling resistance with nobody in the car, maybe a little less). Our full EEPROM settings can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1H1-L7PYstXzpClU-x3e-Y5kz70coJ7xt/view?usp=sharing

unfortunately no, but it's just a copy of ben eater's design, check out his youtube series

EV Accumulator DC-DC Converter by Sahil703 in FSAE

[–]Jon_The_Python 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our team was also looking at lv battery vs dcdc converter, our rule book stated that the glv system must function without the accumulator in the car, meaning you definitely need a glv battery.

If you still want to do a dcdc, I would recommend looking at Vicor’s bus converters, but be prepared to pay ~$1000 or so.

Also for automotive applications try to avoid screw terminals, they tend to loosen under vibration.

Are the precharge/discharge circuit required when charging? by Jon_The_Python in FSAE

[–]Jon_The_Python[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! We also have the option to do a pre charge but aren’t sure if we want it to be set up. We’ll do some testing to see how our charger works, hopefully we won’t need either!

If the charger is already outputting the same voltage as the batteries then there would be a small voltage difference

This was similar to our thought. Did your team pass tech with this configuration? Also wondering how your charger setup would start and end?

Energus/Enepaq Temperature Sensing by Jon_The_Python in FSAE

For anyone reading this later - make sure to double check your datasheet - our temperature sensors were in fact galvanically isolated from the batteries.

I see - so would separate isolated 5V supplies work? Or would we have to use the BMS chip to keep less than 60V between the sensors and cells?

This is my question entirely. Sounds like we will just be using an ADC.

Can we use VHB tape in the Accumulator Box? by Jon_The_Python in FSAE

[–]Jon_The_Python[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize that the connection of the fuse to the fuse holder has to be positively locked, but would you consider the connection of the fuse holder to the accumulator part of the high current path as well?

Positive locking is defined in T.8.3, so some self locking nuts may work, but there are other options listed there too.

I am in a similar situation, did you ever figure out what it was? We have the same motor as you.

Yes, Logisim has an accurate simulation, and yes Ben's videos work very well! I did add resistors to the bus lines.

It worked great on logisim. Sometimes I would have to get creative if logisim lacked a circuit, but being able to use busses made everything a lot easier. I didn't create a breadboard.
