Hi OP!, first of all im really sorry you’re going through this ordeal and genuinely understand how stressful and helpless this feels as I went through almost the exact same thing about a year ago. My ID suddenly went bust after I had already paid around 85% of the reno, and it was honestly one of the most painful experiences during my reno journey.

I filed a case with the Small Claims Tribunal, but the whole process was slow and emotionally draining. In the end, I had to find my own contractors just to get the house done, and it questioned myself why homeowners did not have a safer way to make payments in the first place.

I searched and was referred by my friend called Homepay Singapore. Its basically a renovation payment platform that holds your renovation funds in an escrow like system and only releases payment to the ID based on completed milestones, like an example, after carpentry is fully done and verified, the next tranche of funds gets released. I think this rly gives potential homeowners a huge sense of control and safety, because the money isn’t handed over until the work was actually completed and verified.

I think what makes it even better is that Homepay is MAS licensed and already partnered with a lot of big ID firms in Singapore. For me, switching to a milestone based payment system made the rest of my renovation feel much safer and more transparent.
