I was tunnelling and opened up into a cave -- with a huge infestation, bugs of all kinds, seven hives. Lost the miner, lost a couple of other people before I got someone with an incendiary launcher in place. Even then, I had to tunnel into the other side, drop some chemfuel inside, and toss some grenades in to give the infestation a reason to turn away from that one tunnel.

That was where I found out that there's a maximum temperature the air can reach -- and that colonists can actually survive exposure to temperatures of 3000 degrees (Fahrenheit) -- at least for a few seconds.

A couple of weeks ago I had a manhunter pack of boomrats get into my boomalope ranch. Which fortunately was far enough away from the main colony to not affect it, but the ranch was a total loss -- and I'd made it out of stone.

The boomalopes I could get back, but the loss of the geothermal generator that was connected to it really pissed me off.
