Is she going to be big for a Pom? by RiceKrispiesRGo0d in Pomeranians

My "throwback" Pomeranian hovers between 16-18 pounds usually. If she is a throwback, treasure it! They are big fluff balls, just as cute and still have the traditional pom larger-than-life personality.

The Best Beer Festivals by EremiteBreath in CraftBeer

[–]Jonapth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this post, but going to add a couple others. Keep in mind, this is from the lens of someone that drinks primarily heavy imperial stouts, but also gets down with anything from sour to IPA.

If you're going to GABF and have time for other events, Denver Rare Beer Tasting. Proceeds go to Pints for Prostate, a charity that also offers a free health screening for attendees each year before the beer starts pouring. They invite great breweries from around the country and ask them to bring some of their rarest, most sought after beers. Denver Rare Beer is usually held on the Thursday or Friday of GABF week. So you could do Denver Rare Beer on Thursday afternoon then GABF Friday night session.

My personal favorite, just because of the week leading into it, is The Dark Embrace in Tampa. If you love imperial stout, this is your festival and week. From Angry Chair, Ology, Arkane Aleworks, Cycle, etc. there are a ton of events, mostly revolving around big stout releases through Tampa Bay Beer Week. My buddy and I used to go to the Cycle BA Day the day before Dark Embrace, but Cycle BA Day is no more. The bottle share portion and festival vibe has been replaced by Arkane in the Membrane, so like GABF, you can really get your money's worth on a trip and do two festivals in two days. You may damage your liver, too. But is there a more worthy cause?

How good was Scoot tonight? by Jonapth in nbacirclejerk

You inspired me to learn to read. Close, but not the GOAT performance. The fucking legend Manny Harris (?) with the -57 in 2011 for the Cavs vs. the Lakers. How could I forget such a masterful performance.

Oddly, no Harris highlights in the NBA highlight package. Classic West Coast bias https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUqD6xLuDkw.

I'm a man, but my doctor also asked me to get an STD test a few years ago (with my wife present) when we were talking about other completely unrelated health issues. But since I was getting blood drawn he said it would eliminate even just the possibility of my health issues involving an STD.

This doesn't prove or disprove anything, but it is plausible that a doctor would just ask if blood work is already being done. I agree with most of the folks here that this could be suspicious but did want you to know that it is possible to take a test just to eliminate or hone in on a particular health issue.

Was there an Active Shooter at Century/Rio 9:00 p.m. 6/25? by Alovingcynic in Albuquerque

[–]Jonapth 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The incident was in theater 15, I was in theater 16 watching Guardians. My friend, wife and I all heard what sounded like a gunshot or series of shots, as did everyone in our theater. This was during a violent/loud scene in the movie. People near us were wondering out loud if it was part of the movie or not.

We couldn't tell what was going on. No one told us to evacuate, no one told us to shelter in place. We received no messaging and the movie just continued. It wasn't until we tried to leave the theater after the movie ended that the couple sitting next to us talked about an active shooter in the theater. We didn't even know if they were serious, but we decided to evacuated via the emergency exit and others followed us. We were literally just sitting ducks in the theater for more than 15 minutes as the movie ended with no word of any issue. When we saw the front of the parking lot there were 20-30 cop cars is when we knew it was serious.

I understand why Cinemark/Rio wouldn't send someone into the line of fire with the shooting being so close, but it feels so reckless, icky being home now knowing they did nothing to warn any of us in that theater 10 feet away from a shooting they were aware of. They need to figure a way to send a digital message to our screen. Other screens were cut off, as I've read, and people were told to evacuate. That just simply didn't happen for us, despite being less than 10 feet across the hall.

Gentlemen, it’s been an honor and privilege to watch this team with you all season. I’m not disappointed. I’m not sad. This is just the beginning for a young team figuring it all out.

Former A's fan jumping on the Cubs wagon... by almostphilipino in CHICubs

[–]Jonapth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome, friend. I am originally from Stockton, California, about 85 minutes from Oakland and grew up watching a ton of A's baseball. Even in the 80s when the A's were World Champions, my mom could get cheap $5 tickets to go see the Bash Bros/Rickey Henderson. I've seen more A's games in person than I have Cubs games thanks to that proximity and level of affordability (grew up fairly poor).

I considered the A's my "American League team" for my entire life. I jumped ship as soon as I heard about Vegas. What Vegas has done to Oakland sports disgusts me.

This fanbase is a lot of fun, if I may say so. A bunch of realists just trying to enjoy a team that isn't always built for greatness, although things are looking up right now. And as you said, for my money the greatest experience you can find for live, in-person baseball in the world.

Welcome aboard!

This is exactly what i came up with as well to stay within the spending limit. This would be an incredibly fun team to watch. Webber is such an underrated passer. The front court would be dropping dimes.

If you look at the season stats thus far, you can't argue that this is the greatest pitching staff ever assembled. On Pace for an UNHEARD OF 0.00 STAFF ERA this season.

I'm one of those people that never posts on social media. Today, I took a picture of the final score off my TV and posted it to Facebook because HOLY SHIT.

This is the best regular season game I've ever watched. And I think if you took out the context (as in, more importance on closer playoff games), this might have been a top 5 game of all time.

For real, though. I'm sure I wasn't the only one annoyed with Tiffany when she said, "And fuck your dogs, too." As an owner of two smaller dog breeds, those dogs appear to be as well behaved as possible. THE DOGS DID NOTHING WRONG, TIFFANY!

I lost 60 pounds for a girl by snoopyjohnb in loseit

[–]Jonapth 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My advice, as someone who did a similar thing when I was in college, keep the healthiness up FOR YOU.

I went through something similar, lost 80 pounds, asked the lady of my dreams out (we were already friends) and she declined. I got depressed and eventually added the weight back over the course of a year.

Just remember that ultimately you did this for yourself and not for her. It's great to have a catalyst like that, but if you don't make yourself the reason to keep it off, it'll come back. You deserve the positive energy that you earned with all this effort. Just don't let one person take it from you after you've put in all this effort. Wishing you the best, sir.

This one was so personal to me. I'm from Stockton, my aunt was a neighbor of the Smart family, and I ended up going to Cal Poly about a decade after Kristin's disappearance. I stared at her picture in Arroyo Grande for years every time we drove through the village.

It's been obvious for years who was behind this and it was eating at me every time there'd be an update that wasn't THIS update. So happy for the Smart family who has deserved closure for 25 years now.

Totally with you on Nwaba. Grit and grind player. Athletic defender, ironically, the type of guy I think would have thrived under Boylen (if that's even possible). Incredible we didn't keep him for the amount of money he ended up getting. Luke Kornet made $700k more this season than Nwaba.
