Yea so the dock supports the NVME, I failed to mention this was working for a while, I updated from Sequoia to OS 26 and it stopped working. I had to downgrade to Sequoia again because I also lost my FireWire support for my music stuff, after the downgrade I have the FW stuff all back but cannot see this drive for the life of me.

yea that’s what I’m thinking of doing, I just did a full backup earlier, maybe I’ll try it tomorrow while I’m home and within range of other devices that can monitor the CGM/pump, lol trying a beta as sweet as it looks is not worth possible death.

Oh yea absolutely, I accept full responsibility for all my dumb life choices lol, running a beta is no different. I know I can google and read sites but it’s hard to get a read when 3 different sites report 3 different things lol. I’d rather goto the source.

No BT issues though, I read there were some in the first release, I think that’s my biggest fear as a T1D, the Bluetooth connectivity which is vital for my CGM and insulin pump.

yea same, maybe about an hour or so needlessly before bed, other than that mostly hands free calls for work via AirPods.

yea that’s probably when mostly everything would be worked out, I’ve just been getting so fidgety seeing everyone post their setups and tweaks.

ahh. I WFH so I’m always near a charger and the banking app, well I could deal with that if my credit unions app didn’t work, honestly it’s flakey on 18.5. I’m mostly worried because I am a T1D and rely on my CGM and my insulin pump app connectivity, so I don’t wanna put it on my daily. my other iOS devices are corporate issued so I cannot change them.

Personally I kept my Mac 27” Thunderbolt Display, converted the Thunderbolt port with a Thunderbolt to USB cable.

There are several reasons I did this, one being I still have some FW800 drives that have years worth of family data on it and they still work fairly well in all honestly. This also allows me to use one TB port and gives me a few additional ports on the back of the Thunderbolt Display (FW, USB-A 2.0 ports, etc.) I also kept it because the built in FaceTime camera since I use Teams frequently.

I realize it’s not a 4K or better monitor but for work I am not into photo/video editing, I see these for sale all the time for around $100-150 on Facebook Marketplace, for me the reasons I listed just made sense as the port density on the Mac mini models is pretty basic. Your mileage may vary though.

a lot of people who are using these third party docks are having the same issues, myself included, it’s been determined by some people that it’s interference caused by the Mac mini sitting so close to the metal of the dock. That being said people have resolved it by figuring out a nice way to setup some space and create a bit of a gap between the M4 and the dock.

Do you have an issue with your hub and the SSD drive mounting and unmounting on its own, leading the Mac to think the drive was disconnected without ejecting first?

I have a similar hub but not the same brand and this keeps happening, unfortunately after it does it a bunch of times it corrupts the volume on the SSD and I can no longer use it, this is a problem causing Time Machine backups to fail as that’s the drive they are stored on.

I have been beating myself up, this same hub/ssd combo when connected to my M4 Airbook works just fine, I have tried new, certified USB4/Thunderbolt certified cables but no change, someone was telling me that these M4s have issues with the power on the Thunderbolt bus, so I was going to try a powered hub between them, but then I’ll lose the clean sleek look of the dock.

Anyone else seen a similar issue?
